    hey guys ,

im pretty new to internet shopping and im just looking into paying/donating money to a site i regularly use ,

however after reading some similar threads on the security flaws of paypal accounts iv removed my credit card from my paypal account

instead im going to use a disposable debit card which you can purchase in the shops in ireland

just wondering has anybody ever used these cards and should it be ok to use with a paypal account

www.3v.ie - an example of these cards

    thanks for all help

I have used Pay Pal on a number of sites with no problem (just luck maybe)
I have received fake emails pretending to be pay pal asking me to click one a link they supply in the email to update my account. I have never used a link through email. Went to pay pal and sent the fake to them hopefully to investigate.
I have not used one of those cards. I have gotten prepaid visa's from my bank to send to my grandchildren. Good Luck

Like darlene I've used paypal numerous times with no problems what so ever. In fact paypal even got money back for me when I used my card to pay someone on ebay and they didnt send me my item. I havent hear of any issues with paypal, if you be so kind to show me where you read it, cuz if they are having issues I might want to take mine off too! :)

I have used preloaded cards like that one and they basically work like a gift card but if they have a Visa or MC logo you can use them where Visa and MC are accepted.

I use paypal and havnt had any problems,I'd rather not use it though I use it because its the only thing alot of people accept,I'v seen many paypal nightmare stories mainly concerning the paypal "fraud sqaud" if they even suspect theres a fraudulent transaction taking place I believe they can lock you out of your own bank account, not your paypal account, your actual bank account.

I use Paypal exclusively for Ebay transactions and I haven't had any problems. I just make sure to use my credit card at all times since I can deal with Visa if Paypal doesn't want to help with a problem; like an item that wasn't shipped. I also make sure I leave no money in my Paypal account. Like mentioned above, I've heard of cases where Paypal locks up your account for suspicious activity and you're out that money that you had sitting there until the issue is resolved (a lot of work and time). If you can donate with a credit card though Paypal you should be fine. If there's a problem and Paypal doesn't back you up, you can always go to your credit card company and reverse the charges. And like Darlene said, watch out for fake emails requesting that you log in to update your account information etc. Never follow a link from an email, always log in from the Paypal homepage.

I've been using paypal for quite some time. I trust it. I've never had any issues with it, and like dyamond even got money back for a fradulent transaction.

Edit: As far as email goes, clicking on links could very easily lead you to a phishing (scam) site. I use paypal with my ebay and newegg accounts. I prefer to use it for online purchases because i feel that having one sight manage my financial information is less risky then giving it out to every other site.

Think it depends who has access to it during you purchase. One reason I quit writing checks (a while ago and in LA ) at the market no telling who could get your address off of it. I use ATM on my checks have a PO Box number, no phone No.

I dont even write checks anymore, I do all my bill payments online! With the bad short term memory (people can attest to that! LOL) I have its great that it pays all my bill automatically (before online billpay, I was almost always late rolleyes) and now I never have to buy stamps again!! woo hoo! :D

Actually so do I, I write a couple checks a year maybe and it's usually a last minute thing for the grandkids.

I am an e-bay freak and I only use Paypal to shop there. I ahve not ahd any problems with it, but I also use a prepaid mastercard to supply the funds with (www.greendotonline.com)

I think that it is pretty good, but then again, that is me.
