New windows install ???

    In a new windows XP Pro install on one hard drive only and two cd drives this new install called my supposed "C:", "I:" instead of "C:" how can I change it back to C: without corrupting windows ?

    it is strongly recommended not to change the letter of a system drive.

    More info needed ....did you do a complete format? Erased all partitions?

    Yes all partitions were taken away.

    And did it ask if you wanted a complete format ...ntfs? on what partition? The formating should have stated that it was formating the C dirve....?

    Yes it was starting from a previous install onto this install, after that I just want to know if it is possible to change this without corrupting windows XP Pro on an NTFS Partition.

    It sounds like you are saying you have two installs?
    You didn't do a complete format?
    What exactly did you do?
    And if you have an install on C ...then the second install would be a different drive letter.

    Not two installs just the one and no other partitions !!!

    Well....then see if it will allow you to rename it to C ....at worst, you'll just have to reinstall.
