We recently bought a hot-air popcorn maker so we could vary the amount of popcorn being made, and also to reduce the cost of money buying microwave popcorn. Yesterday, my son, James (12.5 year old), was making popcorn and has been fascinated with the popping process. I was at the kitchen sink finishing up on cleaning the dishes while he was watching the popcorn kernels getting heating up to pop. He was looking at the popcorn intently and I couldn't resist. I leaned closed to the counter and said "POP!". He jumped up, hit the refrigerator (not hard though), I was laughing, saw a smile on his face and he came up to me and slapped me on the head.

I loved it, he laughed some. Everytime I thought about it, I kept smiling.

    Can't wait till next time. ;) :D:D

    lol! Too funny.

Anyone remember Jiffy Pop? Cook it on the stove and you were lucky if it didn't catch on fire.:D

Still use it on the open fire when we go camping :)

lol...I didn't even know they still made it. I'm going to have to find it and see if it's as good as I remember...when it didn't catch on fire that is. :D

I have a similar story. I was using a cutting torch at work to heat a siezed part so I could remove it. Unbeknown to me, the parts manager had snuck in behind me with an inflated paper bag. He popped it behind me. Did I jump. I was looking around to see what I had exploded when I saw him crawling behind a bench trying to escape. Once I saw him I knew what had happened and couldn't stop laughing.

Last time I bought an electric popcorn maker, I bought it around to a friend’s place so we could do the old movie and popcorn routine. That sounded like a dandy idea until she went off to make the popcorn and stuff and I heard this real loud BANG! - Just about fell out of me chair! Somehow, she managed to blow the whole thing up. Denied all knowledge, of course. Later on she told me she had a 'few' things for me to fix. Like a washing machine, two vacuum cleaners, a radio and a toaster. rolleyes

That's when I realised she had a real talent for destruction, and not to bring anything more expensive than I could afford to lose around. She never could understand why I didn't let her drive my car. :eek

On a similar note. A friend of mine thought it would be a good gag to zap me with a Megger Meter (can produce a voltage zap), while I was working on his computer and concentrating. Thought me jumping and yipping was a great joke. That is, until he realized I'd dropped his video-card and cracked the PCB. He wasn't laughing anymore, then. rolleyes
