Tesla Coil:- Named after Croatian (some say Serbian), inventor and genius, Nicola Tesla, who pioneered A.C. current systems (as in the electric power you get from the household sockets), A.C. motors; dynamos; and hundreds of other inventions - most way ahead of his time, and some still advanced for the 21st century.

Tesla Coils:- Are ultra-high voltage coils (usually at very low amperage, if you want to live), that produce multiple H.V. sparks and corona discharge (similar to lightning, viz. Dr. Frankenstein movies, lol). My little one is pretty safe, although your hand does tingle a little. Much larger versions can produce millions of volts.

LOLMuch as I enjoy the odd camping trip, I do tend to pull in my city life comforts...a small, portable, camping "loo" is a must if anyone invites me along...one type is where your "personal effects" go straight into a dug hole, then you cover up the hole and transfer the "loo" to another site for the next "spent penny";):D Oh Lord, don't believe I've added to these commentsrolleyes:p:D

I dunno, doing that outside is strictly for the four legged fury creatures, imo. (And no, a hairy drunk, crawling around on his hands and knees, doesn't count. LOL ). Maybe I'm a 'girly-boy', as Schwarzenegger would say, but I'm fussy where my bodily functions go.

Not that particular unit. I just got lazy, and got that pic. from the net. Mine's got a plastic bubble enclosure thingy around it, so I don't give anyone a premature heart attack, seeing high voltage sparks zapping around them. Though it's not a bad party trick, I'll admit. ;)

True that. It's neither fair nor correct to judge everyone by your own bad experiences. That's like being too scared to go outside of your house because there is some bad things/crime out there. It's not the fact that we've had bad experiences that we should measure the world, but how we learn and adapt from them.

I don't get to see my kids at all. I would have more reason to be negative than most, trust me, but I refuse to let other people's bad decisions and actions screw me up with negativity and resentment.

Maybe it's a cliché, but life does tend to reflect back on the attitudes we project. I've been down the negative and depressed road before. Sometimes still have to remind myself. But we have to move on and adapt to our current situation. The healing may never be 100%, but at least life goes forward, hopefully.

Oh yeah – Another quirk of mine. Sometimes I go into little rants, or outflow of ideas, or whatever you want to call them. I guess that’s not such a ‘Little Known Fact’, LoL.

Before doing law, I attended night classes after work for computing and business courses...had problems with attention and retention then being so tired:zzz...so I have a good idea of what you've achieved. And by the way, college (TAFE) and similar level diplomas are held in good stead as a uni degree in Sydney anyway.

Yeah I heard that but I wouldn't dare touch Uni. :heli I know my limits LOL A Uni. from Sydney always comes to the college I went to to recruit students. In fact tomorrow is my Graduation for the Computer one so I'm going to head off :):zzz

Guess it's my turn, let's see...

    1. I'm nuts about SciFi, but more real science the better. Fantisy is just to fill the spaces between the decent books. In my 20's I'd go through about 5-20 books a week, nowdays it's around 3-5.

    2. I've raised 3 kids, 2 girls starting at 14 and 16, and 1 boy starting at 9. I took over raising them when my brother died. Never been married.

    3. I stay depressed. I'd say it's causial, my mom died over a year ago, and me and my brother were very close. No danger of hurting myself though, too many people depend on me. If not for family I would at risk for suicide.

    4. I love my work, but hate my job. I am a superior technician, but jobs are hard to find, unless you can work 2nd shift. With kids, not possible. So I operate the machines I used to repair.

    5. I suck at meeting girls. This is one reason I am still single. Not that I don't want too, but I have too many bad habits, like saying exactly what I think. I am not the man you want to ask "Do I look fat in this?", unless you really don't.

There you go, all my dirtly laundry exposed. I'm a very social person, which is one of the reasons I became a Mason, and have joined quite a few clubs.

    @Phantom
I love tesla coils, maybe you can include real pics of yours sometimes.

When I was younger and healthier I'd lay in bed at night and read by flashlight (tried a lamp, browned a hole in the sheets).

One time the library had gotten a bunch of new books after a long dry spell, so I checked 8 out, and read them that night. Wasn't worth squat in school the next day, and for some reason I went to bed early. But it was good. Real good.

  28. legalsuit

That is so cute. Presume it was reading under the sheets. Seen kids in movies do it, but could never figure out why unless parents were strict with bed times and lights out:D Still cute.

That's why I lay out my profile so clear. That picture was fun, I had it taken to tease my mom (worked too!). Basically got the black eye helping another student take his black belt exam. They get quite excited during those particular tests, especially since they have to take on the whole class one at a time, high belts firsts (which is me) working down to newbies. By the time they get to the white belts they can barely keep their arms up, at this stage it is a test of heart.

@ LS funny I never thought for a min you were other then female

My computer has been down and trying to play catch up here was a real chore

  45. ItsWendy

    ItsWendy MajorGeek

Uhhh, Meithed, I get the same thing from you, although your profile doesn't show any clues either. In fact, I think you may have stated it somewhere, but I don't remember where. Where does the name come from anyhow?

    So, art thou girly?

I think I understand why folks (women especially) don't want to give out that particular piece of info, given some of the seriously sick folks lurking about. I'm sick in a friendly crazy sort of way, no threat meant or intended. But it does cause some hard feelings when you guess wrong, like I did with one guy whose handle was vaugly feminine. Didn't bother me a bit, since it was totally under his control in the form of the profile (and I always look).

Dymond, I've never had any problem telling your gender, your profile has always made it pretty clear and obvious. The fact your very pretty doesn't hurt either, males tend to pay closer attention than you might think. They use female voices in fighter aircraft because it will get their attention much faster in the clutter and cacophany of other noises and events in the cockpit. I'd say the diamond heart was pretty obvious too.

  46. ItsWendy

Some advice, if they guarentee a black belt, especially during a time frame (like 6 months), run, don't walk, from the belt mill. They are worse than worthless, they instill confidence that could get you hurt.

A belt is always earned, and it takes time. My personal experience is it takes about a year just to get the basics down, and develop good instincts. A lot of syles will claim they have perfected martial arts, personally I think this is :crap . Everyone is different, the style I've learned teaches to adopt or steal whatever works for you, where it came from isn't that important. My teacher has been known to teach advanced moves to students he thinks would benifit from it. We don't participate in tournaments, they teach a lot of bad habits (this is contriversial), one punch does not end a fight, and size matters (which is another reason everyones personal style varies).

If you ever try it out, shop around. Find a place you are comfortable with.

Yes shane, SN=screen name. With some user names or avatars... you just can not tell, unless they have a pic or something you just sit and you wonder.

What me?? like shoes? oh stop yourselfLOL I cant help if cute shoes just jump into my basket at stores:innocent I just dont have the heart to put them back on the shelf, they all need a good home you know :D

I have no problem telling someone I'm female, Its the other stuff I dont want them to know. Im glad its easily understood (geez if you could only see the faces I makeLOL) less questions to answer, I've always hated when people would ask ASL its like geez if I wanted you to know I would tell you. I thought my avi was pretty obvious too but I guess some people pay no attention at all.
