Which way to overclock is better?

I have a Q6600 and its ratio is currently at 9x with a 289 CPU frequency. So the effective overclock is from 2.4 GHz per core to 2.6 GHz per core. I'm not going to really push it until I get an after-market cooler.

Is the performance better with a lower ratio/higher frequency overclock? Or is it better to have a higher ratio/lower frequency overclock?

your processor speed will be the same no matter how you get there, but when you raise the FSB it also overclocks other components such as you RAM. If you raise the multiplier and have a lower FSB it will be easier on the other components. are the quad's multiplier unlocked just to lower multipliers or can you raise them too? generally it's only the "extreme" versions that have them unlocked

It only has a ratio from 6 to 9. Default was 9x 266.5(1066 FSB) I believe.

I have a DS3L Gigabyte MB and its FSB can go up to 1333.

    I have 2GB of DDR2-800 RAM

...but I will eventually buy 2 GB of DDR2-1066. I bought some cheap, but reliable Super Talent for 90 on New Egg to initially build the system.

Can I change the RAM timings to max the RAM's performance with the FSB is raised?

I'm just raising the frequency to get to Q6700 status from Q6600. The temp under full load is around 55 celsius with stock fan.

Also, which of these 2 RAM upgrade options would you choose:

PS: What timings would you set this RAM to? Its at 4-4-3-8 right now and the FSB raised has it almost a DDR2-900.
