I started to get pop ups last night and also my viruse scanner started to keep poping up saying i got a virus and stuff.

I turn my pc on this morning and right when its done turning on, I get my virus scanner poping up along with other stuff which I took a pic of and posted here

in the second pic, after my second reboot those window icons on my desktop appeared out of no where so im suspicious about those. I went to check there properties and as u can see the file path is not normal. its http://htepo.com/cehpmoin/?cmp=h5lid.... and continues on.

So im not gonna eveb touch those till i hear back from someone here.

Also, b4 I start my scanning, do I do the read & run me first? or the other thing that I foudn in this thread here: http://www.forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=142744

Right now im in safe mode with internet on. Buut I think im gonna start the scanning off with the read & run me first.

    Hi

Yes you start with the Read Me Guide as lised below, dont follow other threads as the infection maybe different or have a different removal procedure as all PC setups are not alike.

Our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Alright here are my logs, I followed all the steps, when I was in safe mode, I had a little problem staying in it b/c I kept getting a message saying click yes to stay in safe or no to go to system restore. But after I did the counterspy scan, I didn't have a problem with safe mode anymore.

And right now as im typing this, im still getting pop ups.

Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    Viewpoint Media Player

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Please copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    * Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:

    * Now click the 'Done' button.
    * Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    * You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt

    Attach new logs for:
    ShowNew
    GetRunKeys
    HJT
    Avenger

    here are the new logs.

Just wanted to say when I was removing the stuff from high jack, some of the numbers were diff from the once you said to remove.

like for example, u said to remove:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87B6F201-48D5-4729-BE0C-801D373C94F2} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsqo.dll

but when I did the scan to remove the stuff, the only thing I saw that was closses to that was

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {545B6B3A-CD7C-4192-8C27-02BE144FF021} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsqo.dll

which i saw was different numbers but at the end was the same so i removed that.

also, first time after the reboot with avenger, my desktop kinda froze once it started up again so I controlled alt delte and rebooted again with that. And after the second reboot, now im getting the same problems like in the beginning, pc starts, getting pop ups, virus warnings, etc.

what should be my next step?

also wanted to point out, non of my property settings seem to be saving.

liek when you right clock the start menu bar, then go to toolbars and you see those options like adreess, windows media player, dektop etc, everytime I reboot, those seem to get uncheck

Download this file to your desktop - Combofix.exe
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a log for you. Attach this log to your next reply

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Re_run HJT and have it fix this line:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local

Then let's try the registry patch again:
Please copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Attach the logs from:
    HJT
    GetRunKeys
    ComboFix

just wanted to say, after I ran combo fix, it did its thing, then rebooted my pc automatically. Ince my pc started booting up, right b4 it goes into the windows log in screen, my screen was blank and stayed liek that. So I hit the reset button on my pc and rebooted it, and then once again, b4 the log in screen stayed at a blank screen. So this time I held the power button on my pc to turn it off, then turned it back on, and now it went to the log in screen, logged in, and combofix finish its procedure i guess b/c the log came up from it automatically. Just wanted to let you know on that just in case if this was a concern.

    here are the logs

Open Notepad and copy/paste the following text.
Save this as CFScript.txt to the desktop. Now drag and drop the CFScript into/onto the ComboFix.exe icon on your desktop.
You will be prompted to run Combofix again. Follow the same instructions you did before for running ComboFix.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix while it is running. It may cause it to stall.

    Attach the log when done.

You may uninstall any programs we had you download (including CounterSpy, etc).

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
    * Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix you can delete the ComboFix.exe file and associated C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    7. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    8. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    * go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
    * How to Protect yourself from malware!
