Wildwolf is spot on only available in Ultimate version for now as part of the Windows Ultimate Extras add-ons.... its different, but can be really distracting, also not good on CPU usage at times, they still need to tweak it more.

I don't lock my desktop icons. On your desktop ,place the curser anywhere there isn't an icon. Then right click and a menu comes up.Place curser on the top line and follow the box that opens up next.

It does come on pretty much everything, but there is alternatives.

My home machine runs 3 different OS's at any one time, XP SP2, Ubuntu, and Vista Ultimate. Vista has not impressed me at all and is the slowest of the group. I have quite a few problems with it and have nothing good to say about 3rd party support either (drivers and what not). Where as 3rd party support is only marginally Microsoft's fault, it still factors into whether or not I will continue to use Vista.

That's nice muskie, esp. the way your program icons are not polluting the desktop. Good work.

TY, augie. There wouldn't be any icons at all if I wasn't old school. My Computer and the Recycle Bin MUST be on the desktop ;) and the Network Magic Folders one will not go into App Launcher :cry

hey, where did you find that cool volume meter and ram meter at? haha

Both are gadgets found here..... http://vista.gallery.microsoft.com/vista/SideBar.aspx?a=&mkt=en-us
I have replaced the volume gadget for a different one ( no cool led-like readout but it does adjust the volume by click and drag, instead of step-by-step) Replaced the multi- meter also, it does show the cpu, but still shows the cores and ram and is a little better looking.
