Media center, tv card help please

Hi guys ive just signed up here so im not sure if this thread is in the right place so please bear with me.. OK the prob... Ive got a factory shipped Acer Aspire E380, it came with Vista pre-installed, after 30mins i decided vista wasn't for me went out and bought a copy of XPSP2 happy days! Thing is with vista i was able to use the tv card and remote control in media center to watch tv and listen to the radio but XP doesn't recognise it. Is it possible to get the same media center for XP? Im not exactly sure what card it is either, i think it's a lifeview i cant find it in Belarc or Sandra but when i looked for drivers on the acer site thats what they had listed. I cant find it listed in device manager either. Feels like im banging my head off a wall going round in circles. Ive also got a multimedia controller and ethernet controller highlighted in device manager, i tried installing the chipset drivers from acer but that didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

 

There is a Windows XP Media Center Edition, but is is not available as a retail item. You could try ChrisTV or MediaPortal in the multimedia section.

Another issue you may have is drivers. The multimedia controller listed in the device manager is most likely the TV card. If Acer or the device manufacturer do not supply an XP driver, you won't be able to use it with XP.
