Malware?

My browser (IE7) blocks me from most website (not all) 10 minutes after I boot up.

A simple soft restart does not fix it - only a hard shut down and reboot resets my 10 minute "timer".

I recently cleaned off IE Defender from my computer with the help of MajorGeeks moderators.

Is this a holdover from my last malware problem, a new maleare problem, or a glitch in Windows, firewall, or IE 7 that happened when I cleaned IE Def?

I have not yet restarted the malware removal procedures. I will have to restart my computer and check for a response after 15 minutes.

I believe this will be a Software issue however give the below a try before posting in the Software Forum.

Open IE7 and click Tools > Internet Options. Next, click on the Advanced Tab, toward the bottom click the button "RESET". This will default all IE settings, once you have completed this see if the problem remains and let me know.

    Thanks for the reply.

That did not fix the problem.

10 minutes after I log onto Windows, my browser cannot log into any websites. Prior to the 10 minute mark, I can browse anywhere I wish.

This is on both a ethernet based cable modem and a separate wireless network in 2 different places.

In the bottom of the IE7 window, I see something about a dnserror.html as it loads the page telling me it cannot display the webpage....

Should I post something in the software forum?

I do believe this is a Software issue and not malware but I would like to try once last thing before requesting you go to the Software Forum.

    Download LSP-Fix

After download is complete, Run LSP-Fix

Check the Box labeled "I know what I'm doing" and then click on the FINISH button.

Restart the computer and see if problem remains.

If this does NOT resolve your issue, I would then post in the Software Forum.

Thanks for the 2 fixes....unfortunately - no luck.

One thing I have learned about the problem.

It only blocks Http websites....not Https websites.

I don't know if that is a data point but it seems like it might be.

    Thanks again.
