Why was Opera 9.24 posted today as "HOT" on MajorGeeks.com when this version was originally released on: October 18, 2007

I find that sort of misleading and inaccurate.

it's because it has been tested and found safe by MG personnel also the number of downloads come into the equation.

It took them over a month to figure that out?

They normally post software when it is first released.

Again, I find it suspicious being tagged "HOT" when it has been out for over a month.

HOT and NEW are not the same thing. It could very well be that this has a security patch that was recently released.

    Does it really matter?

I know the difference between hot and new. And I never said it was a "new" post.

I don't think an item should be labeled "HOT" when the version has been out for over a month.

I just don't think they should post software that has been out for over a month, when almost everything that is posted, is posted the day of the release.

    And yes, it does matter.

Why waste users time downloading something that they probably already have ... if they are an Opera user.

Make the post when the release comes out. Simple, like what is normally done.

Majorgeeks updates their list as updates become available. Many applications have their packages and installers updated as security hotfixes become available. Otherwise, updates must be done after the application is installed.

I'm sorry you don't like how that is done, but thats how many developers do it. I imagine thats how Opera has it done, and I installed today's release, then checked for updates--there were none. So either Opera has this system deployed, or they dont do ANY updates between builds. At any rate, I don't know for sure, so please read on.

Email the owners if you have an issue with it, so that they can address your concerns. Taking it to a technical support message board is not the correct way of doing things.

There is probably a much less sinister explanation to your dilemna.

    Hi

Not a great friendly manor you have is it? Coming off arsey will get you nowhere.

I can guess that either Tim or Jim told you to post in the forum, because they thought you may have had a software tech question as to an issue or fault you had with Opera, not the fact that you just wanted to bitch and moan over, what looks to me like an oversight or late posting by Tim or Jim as to Opera version 9.24, hey everyones human and maybe they missed the replease date of Opera or actually reposted it, I know its inexcusable and we should hang them from the nearest yardarm.

Kinda guess this can happen in that a mistake could be made, when your looking over 1000s of software titles for updates etc, per day.

New = Newly released software or version.
Hot = Its a popular application that many download.
Pick = Editors pick to what they think is a good app.

Why did you post in the first place.. an argument or to constructively point something out that maybe could be averted in future? So to this WHAT would you like to see happen or changed? Not implying it will be changed, but discussion over ranting is much better you'll agree?
