    Hi,
I have followed the "read and run me first" and followed as best as I could. I couldn't get counterspy to run, so I ran AVG. Unfortunately, even though the setting "create log after every scan" was checked, it did not create a log. However, it found and quarantined 3 files: downloader.small.gkh, downloader.VB.btm, and downloader.Tiny.id. Also could not install bitdefender, but ran Panda scan and have attached log. Also attached are the runkey and shownew logs. Will attach hijack log in another thread. I also have two error messages upon startup with the heading "RegSvr32":LoadLibrary(C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application data\nkbkvovo.dll (the other error message kdkrklip.dll))failed-the specified module could not be found.
Something in my computer keeps trying to open internet explorer and I have the red circle with white X popping up.

Thanks so much for any help anyone can give me by looking at my logs.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You have a lot of malware. This will take a few iterations, so let's get started.

First uninstall the CounterSpy trial since it would not run and we are finished with it.

    Download this file - combofix.exe
    1. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    2. When finished, it will produce a log ( C:\combofix.txt ) for you. Attach this log to your next reply See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

I'm going to post two sets of instructions below. Each will be enclosed in separate Quote boxes. Make sure to complete the first one 100% before moving on to the second one.
ATTACH THE FIRST LOG NOW BEFORE CONTINUING OR YOU WILL OVERWRITE IT!!!! And then immediately continue on to the below steps.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program does not require an installation. The executable actually runs the program. NOTE: This program is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only. ATF Cleaner will remove all files from the items that are checked so if you have some cookies you'd like to save. Please move them to a different directory first.
    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    • Under Main choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
    If you use Firefox browser
    • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
      • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    If you use Opera browser
    • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
      • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main ATF Cleaner menu to close the program.

    Now attach new logs from:
    • you should have already attached the two logs from SmitFraudFix
    • also you should have attached the ComboFix log
    • GetRunKey
    • ShowNew
    • HJT
Once we get these new logs we will continue with your remaining issues and as I stated, you have a lot.

Thanks so much for your help and reply.

I don't know how to uninstall counterspy because it does not show up under my add/remove programs.

Here are the logs from combofix and smitfraud step #1.

Here is the log from step#2.
When my computer restarted I got an error message from Windows Security Alert:
"To help protect your computer, Windows firewall has blocked some features of this program. Do you want to keep blocking this program? Name: backWeb-7288971 Publisher: unknown

    I will run ATF now.

    Hi,
I have the final 3 logs to attach, but the 'attach files' option at the bottom is now simple text and I can't click on it. Also, my gmail is not loading normally...
    What should I do?

    Thanks.

Sorry, I had to clear the private data in my browser and now I can add attachments (clearly I'm not so computer savvy). Here are the logs.
    Thanks again.

This is junk due to installing the Kodak Software. They use backweb to automatically do updates. Most people choose to disable this stuff (considered malware) and do the updates themselves when they want.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    Hi,
I uninstalled Messenger, after which it made me reboot.

I am checking the items from Hijack This and there are several items you listed to delete that are not there in the scan:
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C4D2DD33-37A8-340F-DA2A-4CE6788E0C97} - C:\WINNT\system32\btf.dll

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {11A69AE4-FBED-4832-A2BF-45AF82825583} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winshow] "C:\WINNT\winshow.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bqduxgfy] rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\rghcdshm\xadqzkje.dll",Init
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kdkrklip] regsvr32 /u "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\kdkrklip.dll"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SC2] C:\Program Files\SecCenter\scprot4.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nkbkvovo] regsvr32 /u "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\nkbkvovo.dll"
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DDC] C:\WINNT\system32\cmopkadm.exe
    O4 - Startup: TA_Start.lnk = C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\T0CHD001.exe

Should I just check all that are there and fix those and then proceed with the rest of the steps you outlined?
    Thanks.

Yes! Apparently your last log did not reflect the true system state. Perhaps another reboot inbetween cleared out things a little. So just fix what you do see.

You're welcome. Okay a couple of items did not get completely fixed. Also let me ask a question. Did you set the below so the your main pages would be blank?

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\windows\system32\blank.htm
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\windows\system32\blank.htm

If not, add the above two lines to the below HJT fix.

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4CB8F4B4-5F66-4D9E-BC3B-184596A58824} - C:\WINNT\system32\efcbawx.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: efcbawx - efcbawx.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it
double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the fixME.reg patch to the registry.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Your logs are clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, C:\combofix.txt and C:\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt logs that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    9. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
