    Hi Gang
I have got the correct cable for connecting two PCs using a USB-USB cable.
I want to be able to transfer files, and rig a network to share internet connection using the cable.
BUT the POS software that came with it wants at least one PC on Vista, both of my PCs are XP.
SO, I need a file transfer program, and a networking program.
Please direct me to some programs in here at Major Geeks that I can use.
    tnx

    You dont need Program:eek:
XP has this feature built in
    Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/File and Settings Transfer wizard

NOTE: you CANNOT use a standard male-male A/A USB cable!!! This can potentially damage your hardware!!! You need a cable designed specifically for this purpose. They're called "link" cables or data transfer cables (duh) or data migration cables. Here's a couple of links:

EDIT: I just re-read your post.... I guess you already have the cable  My bad... maybe the last link I posted will help ;)

The cable I have is "Vista USB Link Adapter", I get the feeling this cable wont work unless at least one PC is Vista.
I tried File and Settings Transfer wizard, in "Set up your serial connection","serial port" it says COM1 & COM3, so I chose "blank" & clicked autodetect. Nothing was detected. I looks like File and Settings Transfer wizard is looking for a serial cable, and will not look for a USB cable.
    Help??

I am just curious, but why do you want to use a USB? Why not a CAT5? I guess the USB link may be cheaper than using a router/switch/hub and CAT5 but there are less problems going with a network type scenerio.
