Excel... underscore lines in '__ / __' (cell text) not printg ???

When type '__ / __' (without quotes) as cell text, the underscore lines show in the worksheet but not in the print view (and doesnt print).
Worked ok a few days ago, but something seems to have changed ?
Any ideas ?

 

Is the cell format set to "General"?

Have you tried inserting an apostrophe ' before the _/_ to make it a label, rather than a value?

If you open a new workbook, does it still do it? This will show whether it is a specific file problem, or an app problem.

 

Created another workbook and no problem with print-previewing or printing.
Also tried copy-pasting 'underscore/d' cell from original file to new one and all ok.
Guess maybe should just copy-paste whole file to new one and go from there ?
Sure would be nice to know whats happening for future use... maybe just a corrupt file ?
One more thing, when opening the original file get the following pop-up message per the attached image.
Had some links to an .mpp file, but none were the underscore/d cells and thought I deleted all those linked cells... how can I make sure all links are delete from the file (if maybe has something to do with the problem, and may carry over to new file) ?
