What's your most memorable party?

What’s your most memorable party? Reckon it’s gonna be a tough one? Well, I’ll kick it off after a mind spin with some friends that date back to school days:

I planned a surprise “Bon Voyage” party for a close friend with a 30 guest list, many being friends from a nightclub we regularly haunted. To accommodate everyone, we all chipped in for a hotel room suite. Unfortunately, word got around and when the crowd number was doubled with half the invited guests still not arrived, we were asked to leave.:(:cry

Panicking at such a dilemma, someone piped up that they still had the key to an apartment they had stopped renting (yes, I know, naughty, naughty…but this was before I thought of becoming a lawyer:innocent).

One stayed back to redirect latecomers while we moved on to the new location…but news of this “travelling party” spread, so “new” guests were waiting at the apartment when the rest of us arrived. Swelling in numbers, it became pretty rowdy, with loud music (yes, we were that organised), lots of dancing and people trying to talk above a cacophony of music, and outside traffic noises. With such a loud party happening, the Landlord got wind of it and promptly tossed us out.rolleyes:D

Where to next? By now, other friends – staff from our favourite nightclub – had finished work so they joined in the fun. Partygoers, now a couple of hundred, we headed for the beach at Bondi, and music was provided by the musicians from our nightclub. What a scene, what fun, dancing on the sand, swimming, but out of alcohol (just as well too!).

Just before sunrise (Summer), Cops arrive because residents complained of “a wild orgy going on at the beach” (um…nope…too busy dancing and swimming!). When they see it was all just harmless fun, they hang around for a bit, then tell us to break up the party.

However, a hardy few of us (the original 30 invitees) go on to a friend’s house to continue partying. ;)

7:30am, another police car arrives…so that’s the end of that venue! :( Next stop, King’s Cross for Breakfast! :yum Then off to our favourite Harbour beach at Watson’s Bay for a swim and wind down before heading off home.

Later that evening when back at the nightclub, there were many staff holding cold glasses to their foreheads before serving to customers.:D

My friend (now a New Yorker), for whom I organised the party, still talks of that night/day party (parties)…it was truly memorable.:)

hahaha LS...pretty funny. I'm thinking all you would have to do is change the names and location and you'd have the formula for all kids when they decide to throw a party.

Mine would go pretty much the same as yours, except I was in High school and my parents were away. Word spread very quickly that I was having people over and soon things got out of control.

I didn't have fun at my party though. I was too worried about people in my house that I didn't know. My experience was that houses got destroyed when people had parties.

I never had another one again. LOL

True:D Pretty typical...we were around 19 at the time...and the reason we organised for a hotel suite was the same reason you were worried about not knowing who turned up;)...party crashes are eternal when word gets around <sigh> but in our case, turned out well and lotsa fun.:p

Hmmm.....I would have thought if you had memories of a party it wasn't a very good one ;)

My 21st birthday. All I remember is lots of beer, a Johnny Winter concert, the sweet little senorita from down the street, and waking up the next day with a smile.

    Legalsuit - great story. Haha.
Crashers are the exact reason that I've never thrown a party at my house. They are also the exact reason I persuaded my younger brother not to throw a party when our folks were away too. Nothing but trouble.

I don't even know where to start on "best parties". I've had some blinders.
Some of my best stories involve everyone I started with deciding enough was enough at about 1 or 2am, and me continuing on with complete strangers - some involved meeting my friends on the way home (they'd slept) - others involved the party breaking up around me until left with just me, a girl, a few drinks and a deserted beach at sunrise.

Some of the wildest and most memorable happened when I lived in the French Alps in 1999/2000 - I worked in a bar where the punters used to come in and drink WITH us. Times we left that place in a hurry a few hours into the following day when we realised the owner would be back in about 15 minutes and we weren't meant to be having lock-ins.

There are far too many for me to mention just one "best" - none of them quite as wild and out of control as legalsuit's - but still memorable.

There was this time we took a minibus to Germany and back in the space of about 2 days... Haha.

Good one LevLOL But like I said, it was before I thought about being a lawyer...so any opportunity was a party:p

So you're the guy I ended up on the beach with!!!:D...just kidding;)...but that's where our parties normally finished up in the Summers (or started at)...there are lots more that upon thinking back put a smile on my face...but then you guys would never take me seriously again if I gave away too much.:p

Sounds like you've have your own fair share of party memories too!;)

Well, long ago I lived in Birmingham. I met a chick I was kinda dating at a friend of her's house, and was the only guy in a house full of cheerleaders :drool We had plenty of beer, and well, to keep this PG rated, one of my dates friends was very 'friendly' with us...

Ahh good times. I was a little late for work the next day though. :cool

You know - for a moment my mind was racing "wait... did I end up on a beach with an aussie girl?" Haha.
Irish, English, Welsh (though that wasn't a beach), Scottish, American, but no Aussies - maybe next time. Haha (my missus would probably have something to say about me saying that - haha - thanks be to God that she's got a good sense of humour)

As for my fair share... I guess so, but sometimes I feel I should have far more. I think if I lived near a beach I'd have about 1 per week! Haha. (not 1 woman I might add - 1 good party memory)

    Christmas Evening 2007:

Friends gate crashed my hospital room with good cheer and pressies while nursing staff turned a blind eye and deaf ears to our celebrations. Patients I had befriended during my stay, stuck their heads around the door upon hearing the commotion and joined in.

We partied on to midnight behind a closed door (to keep the noise down), with most of the mobile patients from my ward in my room...until change of nursing staff discovered our little shindig and quickly/quietly ushered my friends out the door and chased patients back to their rooms.:D

Fun time...always is when you know you're doing something you shouldn't be;)LOL

Reading this thread brought a smile to my face remembering all that I used to do.

My best and never to again be topped was my 21st B-day. Me and a girl from down the street shared the same birthday. We worked for a few days gathering the wood for a huge bonfire and setting everything up. We had 13 kegs (16 gals ea.) of beer and some various bottles of booze. Things went well all night, couple hundred people, no fights but some party goers ended up in my house, no biggie my mom was on duty there.
Lots of high points from the night but the one that sealed the deal was near 4 in the morning. My buddy "Craig" and "Dave" had a chugging contest with a fifth of southern comfort. They passed it back and forth until it was gone. "Dave" ended up passing out over by the fire in short order. But it came time for everyone to get some sleep and I noticed "Craig" had relieved himself while fully clothed, so I took him in the house and up to my room and grabbed him some dry clothes and sent him down the hallway towards the restroom. In about 10 minutes he didn't return so I went to look for him, Nope not in the bathroom, nope not out by the fire, I found him stark naked on my basketball court. So I grab him and the dry clothes and placed him in the bathroom. Another 10 minutes go by I go looking again. Humm clothes still in the restroom, not on the court, not by the fire, humm where did he go?? So I glance in my parents bedroom. YEP lying there in the clothes he was born with in between my parents. He still gets reminded of this every time I see him...

The ones that last four days are pretty memorable. I remember one in New Mexico with the Los Hermanos Motorcycle Club just outside Las Vegas, NM. Lots of crazy and a bunch of Home Made Mexican food, with lots and lots of beer. Anheiser Busch brought a refridgerated tractor trailor with taps all along the sides, and all their products coming out those taps. We went through 400 kegs that long weekend, but I only know that cause I wrote the cheque for the beer after the party. Since I drink Jack Black with beer chasers, and Michelob was on tap, most of the party was pretty mellow.

Some marathon of a party! Wonder how the Mexican food fared:p

I learned very young not to tolerate alcohol (thanks to friends at a party who mixed high ball drinks 2/3 alcohol with 1/3 Coke, left girlfriends and I "legless", with a 2 day hangover...not funny), been a 2 glass sipper limit ever since and like it that way;)

    I'll bite...

It was my 23rd birthday / New Year's party that we threw every year. For the last few years the party had been at the same friend's house, with mostly the same group of about 30 or so people with a few add ons each year. That year, my twin brother had just entered medical school and I had begun grad school, so we had different friends for the first time in a while. The party had grown to about 80 people with a lot from his med school group and several from my class as well.

I had just broken up with the girl that I had dated for nearly all of college a few months before and was still in that "firguring out how to date again" stage, with no interest in any long term thing. I met a stunning blonde medical student that was in the same year as my brother. She was funny, beautiful, and better yet seemed to be hanging on my every word (though the beer may have been distorting my perceptions here). We drank, we danced, we kissed at midnight... and one thing led to another...

It is such a nice memory. We exchanged numbers and talked a good bit in the coming months, but like I said, I wasn't interested in anything long term. She was relentless, however and I agreed to a few more dates...

We celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary in a few months :) :).

We've got to come up with a better story for when our children ask how we met. ;)

What a great story...as for telling the kids...I would only edit/gloss over the bit that happened after Midnight...just to keep it at an acceptable "General" rating for the kids' ears ;)

My daughter is a college senior and keeps me informed of the parties she and her roommate have at their townhouse. The roommate looks like a young Delta Burke or Elizabeth Taylor and can really throw a party. During one of them she climbed on their roof with a box of wine. When someone arrived she would open the tap and let them drink . She ended up loosing a toenail because she was up top barefooted.

For halloween their gay friend came wearing just a pair of wings and small underwear. He said he was Victors Secret Angel.

College/uni students are notorious party animals:D I've had my fair share of attending or throwing parties which are always a riot;) but with time constraints due to full time work overload and part time studies, I've always been a stickler for after exams or year end party times - theme parties being a giggle with imaginative dress too as you've pointed outLOL...
