Spyware Doctor didn't work

I am having the same problems as many others on here with malware (virtumonde, Zlob, etc.) and also lots and lots of popups. I was in the process of going thru the "read this first" thread but while I was at work last night my wife came here and bought an annual subs. to Spyware Doctor. She said it found all the programs that Adware is finding but not fixing. After the required reboot, windows boots fine and goes to the user accounts screen, but when you select a user, it tries to load, flashes an image of your background, and then logs off immediately. What gives. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Are you saying your problem began after installing and running Spyware Doctor??
Had you run any of the READ & RUN ME? How much? It would have been much better to have completed the READ ME and not installed or run anything else to interfere/interrupt the process.

Can you boot in safe mode and login?

If not, you may have corrupted your registry and may need to fix this before we can help you with any malware removal. You would have to work the inability to boot an login by posting a message in the Software Forum.

Yes, the problem arose after installing and running Spyware doctor. I called the tech support and they have had similar problems from other people in the last few days. I was in the process of completing the Read and Run me first but my wife did this without consulting me first. Spyware doctor is going to refund my money. I guess that 30 bucks can go towards the $180 that the local computer shop is going to charge me for wiping it and installing a new windows program. They tried for a day to log in and could not do it.

Sorry to hear about your problems! This is at least the second case I have seen with Spyware Doctor causing a PC to become unbootable. I'm not sure what they did but the symptoms sound typical of deleting the userinit.exe program or changing the registry keys that are used to load it at startup.

Sometimes a procedure like described in the below can get you back up, but it has its issues too since while you are back up, you will not have all of your original registry.

I appreciate the link but I was too chicken to attempt it due to the fact that I did not have my files backed up and was afraid of losing some very important things. I carried it to a local guy and he loaded a fresh OS and dumped all my old things back on the hard drive.
