Hi new here and need help

Hi all I just downloaded the florida mirror site for ad aware and tried to open it once I saved it on my desktop but it keeps saying my system doesnt have win32 I think. What am I to do to open this program? I was told it would stop the cookies/tracking that my computer has per trendmicro 14.

Thank you for moving me and sorry if I posted in the wrong area. I have xp and so far the ony download I have had problems with is the activeX and ad aware downloading. Does that help you?

Oh before I forget here is the full error message:\C:\documents and settings\my computers name is here\My Documents\a-aw2007.ex is not a vaild Win32 application.

Yes that is the screen shot I took of the error message. If you want I can email you the saved screen shot. I have tried several sites to download the ad aware but all say the same thing when I try to runthem and that is not a win32 what ever.

Ok, great. Go ahead and delete that, as you do not need it.

Please bear with me. I need you to download two programs for me. I will provide direct links for you, to make things simpler.

Please note if the file works, or note if you get that same error and filename from before.

The second is Spybot.

Same thing. Download it, see if it works, or if it gives an error, give the verbatim error.

 

Both are downloading now. So I am guesing you are a fan of ad aware and would rather I use that then the beta one that the others were telling me about? Its strange I have trend micro but people tell me I need to have another program like ad aware or spybot search and distroy. Isnt that too many protection programs at once? Wont it cause a crash?

 

Im not a fan of anything. Im just concentrating on the problem at hand--your issue with downloading. Malware program preference is not my cup of tea, as I dont use any of them.

I dont get malware. Cookies arent malware, either, just to be straight about that.

Then you dont go to many different web sites? Do you use wireless or dial up for your access?

 

I go to myriads of websites.

Im wireless, using cable, dsl, or whatever wifi hotspot I come across. At any rate, this thread is about helping you, not my ability to avoid malware.

Thats where I posted and was moved to here by Tim. I have no clue if I have it or not I was told to get the ad aware to check to see if I have them and that is what started this all. I lost my connection due to the weather so I am re downloading spybot and I am using standby...dial up so it is a bit slow to download and I may have to post the results tomorow since it is 12:30 AM here. I am trying to stay awake since you were nice enough to help me. Thanks

The ad aware after trying to download it several times finally opened but it wants a serial number and a unlock number so I cant use it. So far the spybot is installing with no problems.

 

Ok, as I see it, I don't know that you really have a software problem, or at least, I havent seen enough evidence to suggest as such. Things I would do at this point:

Run ccleaner. I personally just run the default clean settings. This will get the garbage that piles up out of the computer. Corrupt temp files could have bearing on what is happening here.

Pretty much ignore Ad aware, I guess. I'm not passing judgement, so please dont take it that way:

When an app like that immediatly prompts for a key; its usually because a pirated version has been installed before, or attempts have been made to crack it for the Pro features.

Im not saying thats the case here. Might as well ignore it for now though and move on.

 

Thank you for the advise and links. I am downloading the ccleaner now and I will go and read the read and run while its downloading. You have been a great help and please dont be upset with the others that were helping they meant well. I am a verbal ;erson and if something isnt making any sense to me I tend to speak my mind and I never wanted them to be chastised for helping. So to them I am sorry and I also thank them for their time and trouble.
