Hi! Please help me! Pop-ups have been continuously popping up in my laptop and there's nothing that I've done so far that can get rid of them. I've tried using the Hikjack This program to get a log. Please instruct me on what to do after this step. Thank you!

Edit: Removed inlibe HJT log for guide below to be run

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Sadly Hijackthis is not a full malware scanner and will miss lots of infections, so best bet is to run our tried and very well tested guide below, once completed attach all the requested logs and our malware experts will review and issue you soem manual tailored removal instructions.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

Hi, I've tried it already. At first, I thought that all the malware were removed. But When I toggled the restore system and rebooted, a few of the pop-ups still appeared. But the other usual ones are gone. I think. I've attached the 3 logs needed. Thanks for helping me so quickly. (=

Yes but unless you followed all of the instructions and attached the logs, we could not help you.

Be more careful in the future following instructions. You did not download MGtools.exe like you were supposed to. You Ran/opened it directly from the download link. This is seen in you HijackThis log which is part of MGlogs.zip. It shows this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\61266\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\1TQSRY11\MGtools[1].exe

The instructions stated to download MGtools.exe to c:\ and run it from there. Sometimes you will not get the desired results if instructions are not followed properly.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Now let's remove a rogue service.
    • Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
    • On the page that opens, scroll down to wlg
    • then right click the entry, select Properties and press Stop Service.
    • When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the Start-up Type to 'Disabled'.
    • Click OK until you get back to Windows.
Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01\bin\ssv.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ChicHtmSlowShim] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Dent Ooze Chic Htm\browselive.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Find Title] C:\DOCUME~1\61266\APPLIC~1\SPAMMI~1\Hope Sect.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [uninstx.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\uninstx.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [IEXPLORE.EXE] C:\Program Files\Internet Exp1orer\IEXPLORE.EXE
    O18 - Protocol: p2p - (no CLSID) - (no file)
    O23 - Service: wlg - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\walg.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
