Installing USB Ports

I'm trying to get the usb ports at the front of my new computer to work but they don't. I have windows xp sp2, where can i get the drivers?

You don't need drivers for usb in sp2 ....do the ports in the back work?

yes the ports at the back work, it's just the ones at the front.

Hi

Have you checked to see if the front USB ports have their cables plugged into the motherboard?

No, I wouldn't know how to do that lol, it was built by someone else. I'll email him in that case. Thanks for all your help!

Hi Yes a wise decision to email him if you not confident in opening up the case, and I know how easy it is sometimes when building a PC to forget the front USB panel cables.

The way to do it though, is to switch off the PC, open up the side panel and look at where th front USB ports are and see if their is a cable plugged in and then if so is it plugged into the motherboards USB connectors, now the manual to the motherboard comes in handy now as there maybe two differnt types of USB connectors, in USB1.1 ( older ) and USB2.0 *both have different pin allocations*

but you are correct in getting the system builder to check this out.
