Well, I got a MacBook Pro laptop. I mainly use it to play poker and use remotely for gotomypc, but wanted to see what the deal was. I am planning a complete writeup for everyone, so those who have considered it may be interested in a read from someone who made the plunge.

    Interesting to hear!!

I am actually managing a sign shop which obviously entails a lot of graphic design on Photoshop (just got a Summa DC2 which is made for vehicle wraps and printing large scale graphics on vinyl) and the owners son and I are trying to talk him into getting a 24" IMac. I never thought I would land in the graphics design world so I've always been a PC guy, but they say Macs are the cream of the crop for just about anything in AV production. After playing with the sons MacBook, I can definitely see were it would be fun to have a Mac here at the shop.

And since I am a sucker for eye candy...The new Mac Leopard OS is pretty cool looking!!

BTW...just looking at the Apple website...have you seen that MacBook Air...that is wicked!!

Can't wait to hear what you think!!

I would think an iMac is a poor choice for graphics design. You cant get any pro graphics cards, IIRC.

I had actually heard the same as rogvalcox as far as Macs being the best for graphic design and how in that industry, that's all people use. (maybe that's Apple propoganda, I don't know). Anyway, I was watching American Choppers :)D yes, I love the show) and they were doing some really really amazing graphics stuff and their guy was working on a HP. Made me go hmmmm.

Anyway, congrats on the Mac and I'll be curious to see how you like. Maybe you'll join the cult. ;)

Back in the day, when Adobe supported Apple so much, and when Intel and AMD were pitifully slower than Apple's CPUs, this was the case. Now, not so much.

Although, Apple does provide some muy excellente graphics apps.

I was kind of thinking the same thing being that I could build a PC with relatively the same specs as what I would by from apple, and I already own Photoshop and Illustrator for Windows platform, however...this is also a round about way of getting the boss to get a 24" flat panel monitor, which that right there will make the home build inflate in price substantially!!

Congrats MA, welcome to the elite :p

I'm considering an iMac for next year at uni, to add to my MacBook, - simply because it'll save space, have the power as well as the big screen for recording etc.

I've only had a little bit of time on a Mac and I loved it! I couldn't believe it! I like how you can run Windows or the Mac OS and even though the one I was using had a processor of relatively low "speed" it still seemed to outperform anything I've had the pleasure of using.
