How can I copy/extract images from PPS and/or PDF files? I've tried R-click with Save and Save as..., but these don't work in these particular programs.

Is this solvable with some freeware?

    Thanks.

    Hi
I also had the same problem. If you go to Google and type in PDF Image Extraction Wizard. There are a heap of free ones there.
With the PPS you have to first save as PDF and then use the wizard. Works a treat.

Am told that you first need to get a free PDF Printer. A good example is Primo PDF. You have to print the PPS file using the Primo PDF then use wizard to extract

    Hi
    Glad to help.
Beerwah is in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland. Home of the famous Croc Hunter.

I found utility to extract from PDF, but nothing yet to convert PPS to PDF, or to extract from PPS.

One site which has some interesting freeware is http://www.fileheap.com/ .

    I'm still looking...

    :)

    Hi
To do that you need to download the Primo PDF. It is a virtual printer as such. You then print the PPS and when it asks which printer to use pick the Primo. It will then convert it to a PDF and then the wizard will do the rest.
The site I use a lot is www.freewarefiles.com

Thanks for ref. But I went there and it couldn't find anything named Primo Pdf, but there were things with PDF in the name. Is "Primo PDF" the actual name?

However (and here's where I feel silly), I couldn't tell from the descriptions of the other products if they would do the same thing! I think that's because I don't know what to expect when I visualize the action as you described - when I pick "Primo" as a printer, what happens to the PPS... it won't actually print, will it? And if it converts the PPS to PDF, where does it put the new file?

Whew! Thinking sure puts a stress on ya... !:tired

I found it when I tried the name without a space = PrimoPDF.
Now to get it and try it!

Much obliged to all for helping. I'll come back with a report when I've tried all these things! Talk about Robin Hood's barn... :hammer

I found it before I got your response! I'll have to download later due to connection restrictions (dialup...) It's a big file!

    Thanks...

Re: PrimoPDF -- I got it loaded, tried it... This is humiliating... :crybaby I can't figure out how to make it work! First thing right off, it wants to go online and I don't. In the opening window, it doesn't seem very intuitive. Also, when it installed, it didn't put any executing icon anywhere; I had to navigate to it's folder and pick an executing icon, which might not have been the right one.

I found a couple other PDF programs but wanted to try this one first, since it was recommended.

What is not right here? Problem between Operator and Keyboard? :foolish

First, you should have looked in the manual included with the install.
Second, it only wants to connect to the internet to have an ad because this is free, they hope to sell you the advanced version. It is harmless.
    1. You don't need any icon to open the program; it sets itself up as printer in the printer folder. (No you don't actually have to print anything out).
    2. Open up the file that you want as a pdf and select File, Print.
    3. In the Printer box, use the down arrow and select PrimoPDF.

    4. When the primo window popsup, select a name and location for the file (in pdf) that will be created.
    5. Let the print (no it won't print) rather than screen, eBook, prepress or custom.
    6. In the save as box, put the path where you want the created pdf to be dropped.
    7. Click okay and your file will become a pdf.

Again, read the manual to see if you want to do anything with the Document Properties, Security and Options.

    Well, you would'a thought...
When I first looked in the Folder, there were only two files as "documents" per se, both in text. Neither had anything to do with a manual, and there wasn't any file titled Manual. So, I went back and looked more broadly, and found the only PDF file there, labeled as PrimoPDF3_1, which certainly doesn't look like a User's Manual at first glance. However, Second Glance proved it was the User's Manual. Geez.

    Thanks for the 'reminder'!

Now to find out how to extract images and stuff from a PDF document without further ado.

    B :cool

PrimoPDF doesn't seem to let me extract images from the PDF documents. It's been a while, what with distractions and other challenges getting in the way, but I did read the manual.

I don't want to convert some other document into PDF. I want to take a PDF document, and a PPS "document"/file, and extract images from them, into JPG or whatever, to retain individually.

So I seem to be back at Square One with respect to finding some little freeware program which can do these chores.

    Any help out there?

    Thanks. :)
