Lots of problems...

Sorry about the cruddy title, but I couldn't think of what else to call this thread. Anyways, here's what's been happening:
    • There's an icon in my system tray (red circle with white exclamation mark in it on top of a green circle) that says "Warning: Your system may be infected with malware! Click here to fix this problem." If I click the icon, IE opens up and takes me to a webpage for "MalwareCrusher."
    • My default browser is continually switched from Firefox to IE.
    • Explorer acts strange-sometimes I can't click icons on my desktop, some programs wont start, and I have to right-click in order to use anything in the start menu. If I terminate and restart explorer.exe, the problem will temporarily go away.

This is all that I'm currently aware of. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Okay now we need to use a new tool.
    • Download and save to RenV.exe to your Desktop (must be on the Desktop)
    • Now Copy the bold text in the below code box to notepad. Save it as Log.txt to your desktop. (It must be on your Desktop).
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\isuspm .exe
    C:\Program Files\eFax Messenger 4.3\J2GDllCmd .exe
    C:\Program Files\Lexmark 1300 Series\lxdcamon .exe
    C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs .exe
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask .exe
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon .exe

    • Now using your mouse, drag Log.txt onto RenV.exe
    • When finished, RenV.exe will produce a new log names Log.txt on your Desktop I will ask for this log later.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {DBD13748-D781-4333-96CE-E30CDFAB6370} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvtu.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask .exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSDrive] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvtuc.dll,startup
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: hgghfcd - hgghfcd.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Thank you very much for your help Chaslang, but I managed to deal with the problem myself. I was hoping I would be able get to this thread before someone posted, but it looks like I didn't.

Again, though, I appreciate the help.

You're welcome but I you sure you got everything. You may want to consider attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that I requested so we can check.
