Thank you for the help, first of all!

    Here are my logs...

note... the original log for Avg was lost for some reason... I left the computer unattended while it was running and when I came back it detected 72 issues, fixed them however i have no log for that...

Okay now we need to use a new tool.

    * Download and save to RenV.exe from following link to Desktop (
    must be on the Desktop)
    * Now Copy the bold text in the below code box to notepad. Save it as Log.txt to your desktop. (It must be on your Desktop).
    Code:
    C:\hp\KBD\KBD .EXE
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Apps\apdproxy .exe C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\Reader_sl .exe
    ----a-w
    C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\CLIStart .exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc .exe
    C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\GoogleToolbarNotifier .exe
    C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Boot Optimizer\HPBootOp .exe
    C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\{33D6CC28-9F75-4d1b-A11D-98895B3A3729}\hphupd08 .exe C:\Program Files\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2 .exe
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched .exe
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask .exe
    C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\SDTrayApp .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\ehome\ehtray .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\MSConfig .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon .exe

    * Now using your mouse, drag Log.txt onto RenV.exe
    * When finished, RenV.exe will produce a new log names Log.txt on your Desktop I will ask for this log later.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5"
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2"
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    * Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:

    * Now click the 'Done' button.
    * Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    * You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program does not require an installation. The executable actually runs the program.

NOTE: This program is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only. ATF Cleaner will remove all files from the items that are checked so if you have some cookies you'd like to save. Please move them to a different directory first.

    * Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    * Under Main choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Firefox browser

    * Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    If you use Opera browser

    * Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main ATF Cleaner menu to close the program.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Be sure to tell us how things are running.

Much of the fix did not work ...did you disable ALL anti-virus and spyware programs?

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as Log.txt to your desktop.
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Apps\apdproxy .exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\PIF\{B8E1DD85-8582-4c61-B58F-2F227FCA9A08}\PIFSvc .exe
    C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\{33D6CC28-9F75-4d1b-A11D-98895B3A3729}\hphupd08 .exe

    * Now using your mouse, drag Log.txt onto RenV.exe
    * When finished, RenV.exe will produce a new log. Attach the new Log.txt to your next reply.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

I disabled norton, however I forgot that I installed AVG... well it is disabled now, but it seems that I am still having problems.
I no longer have random popups (THANK YOU!),but on start up my machine is still trying to install new hardware:confused.

    STATUS:

RenV is not able to open the files.

the items for HJT were no longer there, they were successfully removed.

The script you gave me to run on avenger is not working still. I got errors on startup and, well you'll see the log.

    thanks again

You need to re-run the MGTool\GetLogs.bat ...and let it complete before you close it ...only one log was modified on 1/31/08 ...the rest were from the day before.
