Went to sleep with my pc on last night, woke up and it said

Windows could not start because of an error in the software.
    please report this problem as:
    load needed DLLs for kernel.
Please contact your support person to report this problem

I restarted and got the same thing, I then tried safe mode and it got to BOOTVID.dll and then shows the same error.

    :( anyone know what's wrong?

I would try starting in safe mode, or system restore. I suspect a faulty driver, possibly failed download that installed prior to it shut down, and restart.
Microsoft refers to the error, here - the method is only useful if you have a second working partition

Failing to start in safe mode, or last known good, might only leave you the option to run repair with your CD-
    What is your operating system?

have you tried to boot to

    'last known good configuration'

from the same list as safemode?

If this does not work you will have to boot from another OS such as linux or the repair console.
Is hibernation enabled on your pc?
If so try deleting hiberfil.sys using the repair console. This often goes wrong when a pc is left for longish periods. Windows will recreate it on next successful boot.

Thanks Studiot for coming on - I have been busy.
Simplsped, your motherboard has 4 sata points, to take sata hard drives.
It only has one IDE, and one floppy connector.
If you have £20 , or, so , you can buy a sata dvd writer, or, a small 40 to 80gb sata hard drive, now.
I am stretched at the moment, you can't go wrong if you follow any advice from Studiot.

Check inside your pc for spare SATA data connectors(unlikely) and SATA power connectors (possible).
If you don't have any make sure you get some with the new kit.
You can get molex to SATA power adapter leads very cheaply if you don't have any from on the PSU leads.
