Need replacement for WinMail in Vista

I am not happy with Windows Mail in Vista on my new computer. In WinME w/OE (my old system) I could change identities to check all three of my e-mail accounts at my present ISP. Windows Mail will not do this at all. So it brings me to a couple of questions:

1) What do you recommend as a replacement?

2) Is there a site (I checked M$) to download either OE or Outlook? My computer has Office 2007 pre-installed, but they did not include Outlook. Windows Mail is incredibly lame IMHO.

What about Thunderbird? It's open source so it's free!
