Internet Connections

I have a Dell desktop and a Dell Inspiron laptop. For some unknown reason my desktop will NOT stay connected to the internet (on channel 9) The laptop however, is connected all the time....even though I can sit it right next to the desktop......one is connected with excellent signal strength and the other flips around from channel to channel not wanting to connect.......

Is there an explanation for this?

Change to channel 1, 6 or 11. Maybe the wifi chip in your desktop is more susceptible to interference than the chip in your laptop.

Can someone talk me through how to change channels? Doh!

You can get into most routers by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your browser.
If that doesn't work, tell us what brand of router you are using and we'll find the proper address.
Look through the tabs (you will see the current channel) and a drop down box to change the channel. I suggested those three because I think they have the least interference. Someone from tech support at Linksys hd me change the channel a few years ago when I was having trouble with my router.
