It wasn't started as a personal attack so why the rudeness?

Good music is good music, Darlene. Only those wearing blinders and concerned about THEIR own interests would think otherwise. Now, what can I find that is so country that they will smell the cow pies? BRB :tas

And that gives you the right to walk on someone else's feelings?
    Shame on you!!!!!!!
GOOD musician's have an open mind, because they never know where their inspiration will come from. Aren't you a musician?

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here, but I must agree if I like it, I will listen to it, that would include some country LOL

The only "music" I will never like is gangster rap :boxing:boxing:boxing

Darlene - I apologise if that was how it came across - this was by no means the intention. Perhaps a smiley would've been best at the end of my previous post.

musksnipe - I'm not walking over anyone's feelings, merely adding some banter to the thread but if that is not welcome then fine. And also, I didn't 'pick' on anyone.

Yes, I am a musician but don't enjoy this genre of music - I am, however, entitled to my opinion. Also, how could I say I disliked it if I hadn't listened to it previously to give it a try?

You are, as is Darlene. You posted the thread about your song, which was well done, not quite my taste, and sounded alot like the theme music from a game that I have played, so I thought better not to say anything because it would have been rude.
You may have not meant wrong and it probably struck me that way because I like Darlene and the way she interacts here and I feel like she deserves respect.
    Peace!
    I'll leave you with this.

Ah seeing as I was mentioned in this, I will reply..... while Country and Western music is not my cup of tea and neither are the classics and opera ( men in tights just dont float my boat ) and various other genres and artists... but then we all have likes and dislikes.

I wouldnt have made a comment in this thread as to a hatred, I likely wouldnt have posted in this tread at all ( may have read it for moderations sake ). While I dont care for it and wouldnt go out of my way to listen or buy it, I wouldnt have forced my beliefs on anyone, but I will be honest and some C&W artists I can listen too, dont ask me their names as I dont know them, all I do know is they wear a cowboy hat, kinda guess that narrows the field down a bit :)

I have actually seen Charlie Landsborough live and enjoyed the music, he brought up in my city.

We're good, I didn't start the thread for myself, being I stay in the blues one, I just thought it would give others a chance to put up music they like. I do know there are those who like country. If there is a thread I don't like I try to stay away from it, then it doesn't grate on me ;)

Funny story. I grew up forced to listen to Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Sr., Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, and a host of others. I hated country!!!! (I am a die-hard fan of rock and the blues)
One day, after getting out of the service and taking my Dad to a bar on Father's Day, so we could bond, I asked him what he wanted to hear on the juke box. He wanted Hank Williams (suprise!) "My Bucket's Got A Hole In It" So listening to the song and after having a few beers, I asked, "Just what the heck is that all about?"
He told me in the old days before mass produced beer-in-a-bottle, the farmers would go down to the general store and buy their beer to take home in a bucket. This farmer had a hole in his and couldn't get any beer!
    I almost cried. LOL
From that day on, I have listened to some country, especially Hank, Merle, Waylon, and David Allen Coe.

Musicians use that same literary license (I think thats what it's called) that writers do. So, a native Californian can be an Okie, can't he? LOL

Thanks, Darlene.... I have that song on my PC but not that version. I like it.!

Got a story - Used to go to this biker bar in Ojai, well there was Harley's, VW's, Beemers all around bar, had the best music on week-ends you could ever hear anywhere. Not country, R&B, Rock, Southern Rock, anyway during an intermission the juke box was playing Friends in Low Places, the band came back the juke box was unplugged and everyone began to complain. The band had the juke box plugged in and played along (they did good too)

Usually with southern roots, Oklahoma, Arkansas, you know it's against the law to pronounce Arkansas - Ar Kansas. The dust bowl drove em out, guess Bakersfield reminded them of home. Pity :(

One of them was Rick ? from Steppenwolf he had a young girl with him that sounded like Janis Joplin.
Never ever a bad band and no wasn't the liquor LOL although some used to say the "more you drink the better we sound".

I still don't get how we expect country music to be taken seriously when someone always brings up Merle Haggard.

No, you need the real core country. Cash. Presley. Tucker. The Tillises.
