I bought these speakers from amazon and they arrived today, and i have had nothing but problems with them, i've connected everything up etc, and the only speakers that work are the 2 front speakers, the rest just hiss, i've messed aroud with the cables an stuff, and found out all of the speakers and subwoofer works, but never at the same time, the cable that seems to make any of the speakers work is the green one, ill plug the green cable into the green socket, it makes the front speakers work, sometimes they go quiet and abit lauder when i move the cable, then i put the green cable into the surround speakers slot, and it wll them work but again only by themselves, the rest of the cables dont seem to make the speakers do anything, why is this?

what kind of sound card would yous recomend for these speakers? i bought a 5.1 pci sound card but it has made no differance. will the type of sound card make any differance to this problem? i bought the cheapest one they had, £8, i was gunna get one for £19 but didnt think it would make any differance.

Also how do i connect the speakers to the PS3 and T.V and or monitor? there doesnt seem to be any slots on the PS3 for it, and this is the reason i bought these speakers, to play games and watch movies, i'm only testing them on the p.c but still havnt had any luck, i'd really apprisiate some help.

The first thing I'd do is check the manual for the sound card. If you previously had a a standard set of 2 desktop speakers (or headphones) hooked up, the sound card is configured for that, and not for surround sound. Usually your sound driver installs an application along with it that allows for the configuring of the different colored jacks on the sound card, where green is center, red is right, blue is left, black is subwoofer (this is just an example, the actual settings are likely to be different). Once you get the sound card configured, plug in the speakers to their assigned jack, and run an audio test. Again, most sound cards will have a speaker test just for this type of situation: to make sure the surround sound is properly configured. If you certain the card is set up correctly, and the speakers are set up correctly, and it's still not right, consider buying new hookup cables. You probably don't need the most expensive cables available, but don't get the cheapest either, and make sure they're going to work with your setup (in other words, make sure the plugs have the right connectors, and that they're stereo cables for a surround system). If you do all this, and you're STILL having troubles, try the speakers on another system (either a PC or home theatre or home stereo). If they are still not working right, they may be defective.

Here's a links to free surround sound and multi-channel speaker testing utilities. I personally have never used any of them, but I'm sure you'll find one that will suit your needs:

And here's a good article about setting up various surround sound systems for PCs:

i think i've more or less got them to work, although when i play some videos, the front speakers dont play the sound, just the centre and surround speakers, and subwoofer. I downloaded the driver for the sound card (i just bought) off the internet, becouse when trying to install from the CD, the comp would restart for some reason.
The motherboard has an on board sound card, when i put in the new sound card, and installed the drivers, it should automaticly replace the onboard sound right?
    Thx for your help

Have you checked your BIOS to see if you can disable onboard audio?
