"To Do" List - before you die...

I’ve had a long list of “To Dos” of special things I would love to achieve/do/complete ever since I was a kid. No matter how many items I manage to tick off, I keep adding to the list. Here’s a sampling of favourite things I intend to accomplish:

    1. Do a climb to the top of Harbour Bridge and back (scheduled towards end of 2008) http://www.bridgeclimb.com.au/default.htm

    2. African photographic safari and include visiting the Land of the Pharaohs’, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo (http://www.egyptianmuseum.gov.eg/) and finish with a cruise down the River Nile.

    3. Float in a hot air balloon over Paris

    4. Schedule an Italian visit to Venice to dress up and party during Carnival time http://www.carnivalofvenice.com/showvideo.asp?id=126&anno=2008&tipo=GIVTV

    5. Get a taste of what it’s like to be a female astronaut by experiencing weightlessness in a capsule.

    6. Be in a financial position to allow maximum time towards pro bono work

    7. Have sufficient ongoing time to allocate back towards St Vincent de Paul’s “Street Beat”

    8. Walk the Great Wall of China (or at least part thereof)

    9. Visit Japan’s Kyoto to experience a cultural interlude, staying in a genuine country minshuku ( Inn ) located in a tiny rural village, even try out dressing in a kimono, yukata and geta to enjoy a wander around the village (LOL that's really getting into the culture;)) to really experience the atmosphere of a bygone era. Then finish with a hike tour in the Nara/Kyoto area to culturally important sites that retain some of their integrity and which have not been spoiled by modern development.

    10. Swim with dolphins in their natural habitat

    11. Take in the Arts and Culture of Morocco, and while there, gotta visit Casablanca!

    12. See the Taj Mahal at sunrise and other wonderful places in India without getting sick (food and drink often my downfall when travelling particularly in Eastern places:()

    What about you?!

Travel the world, make millions by starting a record company, be happy and make others around me happy.

If I achieve that then I know I will have lived for something :)

    Great List!

And I reckon you'll do it too...you've started with your music which has given you good feedback with your gigs (people happy) and you've enjoyed doing it, (you're happy).

As for travel...reckon that'll happen too...takes planning as does future planning (step wise), towards starting a record company;).

Trick is to list goals for referral/adding to with time frames...list becomes a constant affirmation whenever you tick off items done - best if approached in a project management kinda manner.:)

    1. Help my son's grow into good men.
    2. Find someone to settle down with (without marriage thank you.)
    3. Find a job/education that makes me happy. (37 and still seeking)
    4. Create something meaningful (other than my son's)
    5. Squeeze every last ounce of potential out of each day.
    6. Come to terms with all my demons, forgive all who have wronged me, gain forgiveness from all I have wronged.
    7. Learn the meaning of life. (This one might be tricky.)
    8. Learn to be truly silent and at peace with everything.
    9. Come to terms with that fact that yes, I am actually going to die someday. Accept my mortality.
    10. Tell someone a joke right before I die so that I go out with laughter and tears, same way I came in.
    11. Answer more questions on this dag gum site than I have to ask, for a change. :)

Oh sure, it's easy for people who occasionally have a shot to say.

And yes, I have standards. Must be she, not too much older than me, disease free. Personality definitely a plus.

I'm a simple man (most men are). A steak, a beer, nookie, and a day off to properly enjoy it and my life is complete.

Hey Baz! Will check out those two. Yep...have pretty extensive library which includes motivational books (though when I want something is always enough motivation for me to go get it.;))

So what about you? I reckon you must have a "To Do List" of stuff to do before you die...my list never diminishes because removed items get replaced with new ones.:p

Actually, you've got a pretty ambitious list...

#1 is pretty cool...have a girlfriend who learned percussion which included drums. Takes some talent too...so go girl!;)

#2 was always top of my list and always an ambition to complete different courses. Learning continues to be on my "To Do List" whenever courses come up that I want to do...This is a pretty tough "To Do" and not one to be taken lightly.

#3 That will happen when the time is right for you.

#4 Personally, I wouldn't put this one onto a "To Do List" because that type of aggravation doesn't deserve such an important focus...(instead I'ld be more inclined to put as much distance as possible between such persons to myself - which includes thought wise).

  25. legalsuit

    legalsuit Legal Eagle

Great list...I'ld be inclined to put it into this order:

    1. I'd like to attain a career in computing LOL and have fun trying
    2. I'd like to return to the beautiful teardrop island of Sri Lanka
    3. I'd like to swim with dolphins

Reason for my sequence change to your list:- because once you have successfully attained your qualifications in computing and move forward with your career, you'll be planning a holiday to Sri Lanka, and knowing you, somewhere down the track, you'll find someplace where you can also swim with the dolphins:p:

Don't be afraid to add to it either...challenges always makes life interesting;)

  26. legalsuit

    legalsuit Legal Eagle

Wow! A "To Do List" that focuses within...like your list.:)

  28. Rikky

To be honest there isn't really any experience I long to have, experiences come and go and memories fade.

I'd like to improve my current situation, while happy "ish" more money is always a good thing as it can improve your general lifestyle which is what I think is important general happiness,I'd trade skydiving, bungee jumping anything if someone could guarantee me 1% more happiness every day.

The thing I really want I can't play a role in,I'd like mankind to understand the universe more or totally and the only thing I can do toward that is read about scientific breakthroughs,I'd love it if quantum physics was totally understood in my lifetime and I was there to read about it.

Make it though college and hopefully enjoy the career I have chosen. I know I will enjoy it actually, but getting through the schooling is kicking my arse. I really hate it right now, but it will be ok in the end, i hope.

    legalsuit Legal Eagle

Hang in there with College...I know...it's pretty much like "mental boot camp" (been there, done thatrolleyes)...so just focus on kicking its arse and aiming for as high grades as possible (holds well for prospective employers).

You'll find what you want - when the time comes.:)

1.) Get back into the position that I miss the most - the position of being able to change people's lives for the better in major ways.
    2.) See O'Tahiti.
3.) Leave a will that makes 'em all remember what they did, good or bad.
4.) Pass quietly, without fear or pain.
Beyond this list (to me) everything else is either gravy or bullscheiss.
But I'm ready to go any time the Big Guy crooks His finger at me and says,"You, Boy! Come Hyr!" (To me, God has always been an elderly Cracker - what can I say?)

  32. legalsuit

    legalsuit Legal Eagle

Rikky, I am afraid I have a humbler "To Do List" compared to your wants of roles. Mine is do-able with planning, perseverance, time and patience on my side.

There will always be someone in a better or worse position than oneself...so the definition of "more money" to "improve your general lifestyle" varies by any individual's expectation, as does the definition of happiness and experiences.

My way of thinking, it boils down to who/what a person compares/competes against to make judgments of happiness, experiences. I have seen kids smiling, playing, happily together because comparisons/competition/judgment does not come into it, they were too poor to know any different. Adults' thinking is more sophisticated and comparisons invariably come into play - which I think sometimes can put limitations on what can be experienced.

  33. legalsuit

    legalsuit Legal Eagle

And I'll bet you'll nail the first three! ;)

    #1 - I believe you've already started working on.

#2 - needs future planning (ie do-able too!).

#3 - Also do-able!. Besides, everyone should have a current Will in place. (That letter to "them" can be attached to your Will).

#4 - sounds like a tough one...unless planned (ie euthanasia, which I doubt you would consider), there's no guarantee as to how one eventually goes.

Capucina, for real affect and your own benefit, you should list those "crazy things" for yourself (you don't need to note them here if you want them kept private)...Listing items, provides your mind with a clear picture/steps towards your goal(s), which is all part of the visualisation and affirmation process;)
