Hello people, I have something of an odd issue going on.

I recently reformatted a customers PC and the day after returning it to him he rang me to say that the original problem had returned after his AOL (uuurgh!) software downloaded an update. Now I'm not sure that that is actually related to the issue but he says it only started after that download was complete.

    So here's the deal...

Since he downloaded the update he keeps hearing a dog barking and a door shutting. :confused

I've serched the web high and low for any clues but have found absolutely nothing so was wondering if any of you people had experienced this or know what the sounds are actually generated by?

    Many thanks in advance.

Damn --- I have the same problem!!! Oh wait - that's my real dogs. Sorry.

Unless you want to classify AOL as a virus (and some may) this is most likely his Instant Messenger. The sound of the door closing is one of the sounds in AIM when someone exits.

AIM will do that if anyone on his friends list enters, he will hear whatever they have accepted as their sound. Tell him to turn AIM off at startup and the sounds will disappear.
