When I was a teenager, we had a "blue Budgie, thingy" as you called itLOL.

As a joke, I taught it to say (amongst other things): "What a pwetty, pwetty, pwetty boy!" Which he mimicked accurately and always made us giggle. To this day, mum and I still use the saying when referring to a good-looking fella: "What a pwetty, pwetty, pwetty boy.” :D

We often had him out of the cage and he would always either perch on our shoulder or head around the house, that we often forgot he was there. And yes, one day I went out to the garden and didn’t realise he was still there until another bird swooped down, scared him and he flew off…never did find him.:(:cry

I have 5 pets or as we call them the 4 legged family members. We had only 4 but our little Taffy wondered into our back yard late one rainy night cold, wet & shivering (poor little thing). Hiding behind the garage because my 2 big dogs barking at her. So we took her in, dried her & feed her, boy was she hungry. So of course she had no tags or tattoos. Lost in this huge world in her little eyes. Days went by, checking supermarkets, pet shops & the vet’s, but not one lost dog flyer. It’s a shame that someone could abandon this poor little thin. We didn’t have the heart to take here to the animal shelter because we have been there many of times & 2 of our dogs PK & Bandit & one of our cats Diablo were from the SPCA. Then there’s Bob. That’s another story. Years ago my Daughter came home one day with this tiny battered kitten. Singed paws, broken tail & all matted up. It was an awful scene. Then these little brown eyes & a huge grin looked up at me & said can we keep him hu can we keep him. Well there was a heart melt down if anything. She didn’t care that he looked a mess & wasn’t a little cute kitten because believe me he wasn’t pretty. Little did we know that he would turn out to be 23 pounds. Now we call him blob. Our little Taffy has put on a couple of extra pounds herself over the last couple of years. The 2 large dog stay outside (Sheppard cross Elkhound PK & a Border Colley cross Sheppard Bandit) in the Minnie Mansion I call it. 4x8 dog house. It has 2 rooms, one 5x4 & the other is 3x4. The 3x4 is for cold winter night. Lots of hay & one caged 100 watt light bulb in each room for heat. Spoiled or what. But you pretty much do everything to make there as happy as possible. PK the Sheppard cross Elkhound is getting very old, over 13 years now. Deaf, hip problems & starting to go blind. It so sad that we have to think about the day we have to lay him to rest. His pain is slowly increasing but we have to think of how he feels & not the termendous joy he has brought us over the many years. Here is Diablo & Blob.

Oh Bear9090, what a lovely story of how your family expanded with those four legged companions. Wish there were more such caring people in this world.

Down here, people such as yourself, become "foster parents" to orphaned/saved animals from death row. They belong to a charitable organisation that hold animals while seeking homes for them.

I think you would be an absolute sucker for such an organisation.;):)

Very kind words. Thank you. The scary thing is that when the wife & I retire we will be moving to a small farm out in the country & I can’t imagine how many stay & abandon pets we will end up with.

Your puppy is adorable. Man does your cat look pissed. Great pic. The pup will get hissed at & swatted a few times in the next week or so but then you’ll come around the corner & the cat will have him pinned down cleaning him from head to toe. Hopefully you have him declawed or things could get messy. :D

LOL Yes, He is de-clawed (only the front ones). I don't know about the licking part, but I am sure Pancho will get swatted a couple of times (or more) The cat swats me and our boxer all the time. LOL He thinks he's the BIG boss in the house. 12 years old and still plays like a kitten, once in a while.
It's funny watching him follow me around the house this morning and he has a tiny little yip, when I put him in his bed and leave the room. I think he's going to be a handful.
Our boxer wants to play, but is scaring the little thing. That'll change, too, I'm sure.

Our cat Barney, named after the big purple dinosaur. He did have his name before we got him!

    http://http://forums.majorgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=82695&stc=1&d=1202948916

I was obviously paying more attention to the computer the the cat!

    http://http://forums.majorgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=82696&stc=1&d=1202948916

My parents live out in the sticks in Wales, we often used to pick up stray cats that were dumped. We became an unofficial cat sanctuary, would get help paying to have the cats spayed/neutered but would never let any leave for other homes. When it was cold, there used to be a furry carpet in front of the fire. At one stage, we had 21 cats living with us, the poor dog was hopelessly out numbered.
