Human Rights - out the window

I saw this on TV this morning, was horrified, don't know why, seems like this is going on all over America. Heard the saying The inmates have taken over the asylum? It's true, police are becoming more brutal and getting wise to drag people out of view of the on board cameras in their vehicles. Shameful !!!! Where are the people who used to fight this sort of brutality? Dead, imprisoned?

The police claimed they had no idea of a video (good for the person who got it) and no record of an inmate or detainee in a wheelchair. The young man was on The Today Show (good exposure)

 

Just looked at the video, that is terrible! Unfortunately, most of the of the comments to the video seem to be from exactly the same type of people

 

You would think the custom controls on the vehicle he was driving when arrested might clue them in to the fact that he is unable to walk. I hope some police get fired for this.

Oh lord, sorry, I didn't even look at the responses. I posted one video and it wasn't clear so I just checked for another. Yes no matter what your feelings are about what the police did surely theres a better way to express your feelings.

 

Seems like what ever happens they always find the police justifiable. They need to take it out of the hands of the local investigators.

 

Don't be sorry, you didn't post comments like that. One of the best things we can do is bring things like this to peoples attention and not sink to the level of the police in the video or the people leaving racist/abusive and vile comments.

 

I usually side with the police. Usually, because they generally deal with the lowlifes of the world, and it must be a tough job to have to carry a gun around in case you get shot at or need to shoot someone.

But how can a quadraplegic resist arrest? That video just shows a whole lot of wrong. Hopefully, with this being on the interweb, it can't be brushed under the rug so to speak. Heads need to roll. (figuratively speaking)

First thing that occurred to me, also. Along with power, also comes responsibility, and accountability. Least ways, that's the way it is supposed to be.

 

I sure would like to see a followup story, say in about 6 weeks. This is one of the biggest weaknesses of the modern press IMO.

Several people need to loose their jobs, and that cop who found it funny (but wasn't directly involved) could use some unpaid leave time. Maybe I'm naive, but I always thought they were supposed to protect everyone, even from other cops.

 

I can tell just by looking at him his legs have been useless for quite a while bless him,I'd be surprised if she gets even suspended they don't seem to care.

EDIT- BTW this story made the TV news over here so maybe it is big enough for stern action to be taken.
