My desktop PC recently quit connecting to the internet , my wife is the only one who uses the desktop and I suspected she had unintentionally installed a virus. I started to check the easiest things first. I connected the cable from the Desktop to my Laptop and no problem connecting through the Laptop. Nothing pending attention in Device manager on the Desktop so I tried to connect using a wireless Linksys USB adapter, still unconnectable (recieving the little yellow triangle ontop of the two computers in the system tray that states connectivity issues). Ok I started trying to unistall programs on the Desktop to eliminate possibilities , some programs uninstalled others I would recieve Error messages about a drive F , but there is no drive F on the computer. There was a program running in the system tray called Shockwave Updater with an icon I couldn't right click or double click (sometime between the beginning of the issues and now that has been eliminated) I also tried unistalling the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and restarting computer so Windows would reinstall , still no good. I ran a disk clean-up and manually dumped Temp files and Temporary Internet Files. I came to MajorGeeks and started to work down the steps in the (READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide) Everything went fine until I tried to install Spybot search and destroy and SuperAntiSpyware , at this point I recieved the same Error about an Invalid Drive F. Spybot has an installation path you can chose ie. C: being what I tried to install to and SuperAntiSpyware is executable on doubleclicking and I never even got to a window I could chose a destination for install. Unsure what more info I should provide at this point but will definatly appreciate all the help :)

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Were you able to run ComboFix? If so, attach the log. If not, whya happens. Did you save it to your Desktop (and I mean the Desktop where you see icons when Windows is loaded. I don't just mean your desktop PC)

Also did you run MGtool. If yes, attach the requested log. If not, please run it and attach the log.

I was able to run ComboFix and MGTools I will attach the logs to this post and So far the only programs in the Add/Remove Programs I have not been able to uninstall due to the Error I have been receiving are (iPod for Windows 2005-09-23) , (iTunes) , (J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3) , (J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6) I realized both the J2SE's could not be uninstalled as I was going to Install an Up to date version of Java as your tutorial suggests. All other programs in the Add/Remove have uninstalled when I select them. I also do not have System Restore Active on my Desktop and will do so after computer is back up and running as I also read the section in your tutorial on that. Well hopefully you'll have good news for me, I can't think of anything else and I hope these logs uploaded ok, Thanks again for your help !

Just follow the instructions in the READ ME which specifically states to attach only the C:\MGlogs.zip file. The instructions do not ask for the individual logs.

Your logs do not show any malware. I suggest that you post in the Software or Hardware Forum for help.
