eclipse pics?

    Trying to get some shots of the eclipse - not easy. I have never shot the moon before.

    the lunar eclipse (i figured that is what you're talking about) for us is supposed to start in about an hour (at 9:00)


    (totally unrelated, but for some strange reason my internet browser won't show the attachments...oh well...maybe i'll start a seperate thread about that)

    My settings are all over the place. Right now I am using 100 iso with f/2.8 and about 1/1000 exposure.

    This one was taken with 1 sec exposure - neat outcome.

    This is with a 5 sec exposure. I am pretty sure that is what the moon would look like if hit by a comet. ;)

    Had cloud cover come in - just at the wrong time.

    Ahh well - still got the redness.

    Those are great!

    I've often tried to take pictures of the moon, only to have it look like a little flash of light in a black background. lol It always makes me want to get a good camera.

    Good pics, again CP Just about to see if I got any good ones this last time.

    Your blurry, bright pics are how mine usually come out. I don't have a f stop setting. The ISO settings can't compensate without it.

    This last batch (haven't looked yet) are of the nearly full eclipse. Maybe, I had better luck.

    I found actually - the faster the better early. But it got hard in a hurry. Too dark to focus on - too much light long expose. Then cloud cover..... And the moon moves a lot faster than you think.

    Sort of like a pop quiz with cold numb fingers.

    This is the best I got of the full eclispe.

    I think I'll stick to pets. ;)

    Nah...I reckon it looks good CP...and you're right, there are a lot of factors to take into consideration for that sort of happening, which can be a bit tricky.
