I think the FBI and all the other acronyms have more access than we give them credit for, call me paranoid. Interesting to find out I cannot access peer to peer groups at work though. Stupid internet protocols. Time to befriend someone in IT.:D

Nothing on the internet is private, never has been, especially email. Anything else is a myth.

    Bill beat me too it.

My advice to anyone has always been, "Never do anything on the net that you don't mind seeing on the front page of tomorrow's news paper."

Although you are unlikely to keep a determined TLA out of your email, you can slow them down and even stop the less well funded. There is a website dedicated to this topic at www.novo-ordo.com. It is a good starting point for anyone who wants to make their email more secure.

    I also agree.

. . . and, like dyamond said, they are more then welcome to wade through all the spam that accumulates in my in-box . . . ;)

I am not paranoid but have never fully trusted E-Mail so never use it for anything i would not want anyone else to read.

The main thing to remember is all data (ALL of it) flows through many computers, most are privately owned by companies. The only thing that protects people is the shear volume, and the occational encryption. Occasionally people do intercept the stream just out of curiosity (not are bad people).

Even before the internet it was this way. On my Bulliten Board System my TOS (Terms of Service) state I own anything you post. This is so I can forward it if need be, say if somebody were to try something criminal or something that would expose me to liability.
