i have alot of dance music from the mid - late 80's, and early 90's. i record my music to cassette tape 1st (set my recording levels), then i playback the tape, and record it to my comp. the reason i record to cassette 1st is to get some of the pop/hiss out, as well as setting the recording levels (i can make low parts louder, etc). i have a s/b live sound card on my comp, and more than likely you can't tell that the original recording was from an lp (unless you hear a pop). in the past i had tried to filter out the pops, etc. with a program, but the sound quality was horrible (therefore, i don't edit any of the sound). maybe the newer programs work better? the better condition your lp's are (and the quality of the rest of the components - ie, turntable, soundcard, etc). , the better quality of your conversion. g/l, sos
