    Hi
copying message of other thread, as similar issue on my pc.

A few days ago I accidentally hit run on a pop up on a website I was on. I can't even remember what it said. Next thing I know my pc restarts and when it comes back on I get a red circle and a white x in my system tray and a window that keeps popping up saying my pc is infected with spyware. And anytime I click on that window it installs system defender. I've tried to manually uninstall but of course its not that simple as the program keeps reinstalling itself. I've run windows defender and ad-aware and neither of those have worked. My computer isn't necessarily running any slower than usual but Im worried about other security risks. Plus the window constantly popping up no matter what I do is working my last nerve. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

I am attaching the log file from Mgtools

    Hi roelve,
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Did you run Combofix or Superantispyware as per the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Also, I don't see that you ran Spybot. Are you having problems with these particular scans? If not, please go ahead and run the requested scans and be sure to run CCleaner as per the instructions, because most of the malware we encounter likes to put backup files into the temporary files, and CCleaner will get rid of most of the temp files.

    Hi Abri,

Yes, I have run ccleaner already and tried to do Combofix, but this didn't work. Anything else I need to try first? I also installed spybot search already too.

    Thx,
    Roel

You must follow ALL steps in the READ & RUN ME and you must follow them in the order written. You have not done this. You initial MGlogs.zip file shows you even skipped many parts of the READ ME:
    1. the very first part of the READ ME that tells you not to have multiple antivirus programs installed.
    2. Also you did not uninstall old Sun Java versions and install the current version.
    3. In step 1, you missed uninstalling Windows Safety Alert which is part of your malware.
    4. You did not install and run SUPERAntispyware and attach the log
    5. You did not download and install and run the specified version of Spybot. The version you have is almost 4 years out of date.
    6. According to your MGlogs.zip file you never downloaded ComboFix to your Desktop and thus did not run it as instructed by pasting the appropriate command line into the Run box. I see no reason why ComboFix cannot be run on your PC.
So basically you skipped much of the READ ME and ran things out of order. Please start at the beginning and complete ALL instructions in the order given. And if something does not run, please explain why.
