One of my daughters is a fitness trainer / physical therapist all around health orientated person.
Recently hearing I was sick she suggested I take a dead chicken, yep, thats the term she used, put it in a stock pot and cook it till it falls apart. Then remove the bones, skin anything else unappetizing.
While I was washing it in the sink before cooking I noticed little brown things sliding out. On closer look it was the entrails. Thought I collected them all to dispose of. While I was filling the pot with the RO water I heard a strange noise, a ticking of sort. I looked in the other sink and there was a little heart laying on the rubber things covering the garbage disposer. Something was dripping and sounded like ( The Tell Tale Heart).
I used to spend Thanksgiving morning when my children were small washing, oiling, salting that turkey carcass, gaging til I got it into the oven.
I'm going back to chicken breasts.

I think I have thrown up a little in my mouth. LOL

Wow...that all sounds, er, um, appetizing. :p

Did she think that maybe if she didn't specify dead, you would go out, find yourself a live one and toss it in the pot?? lmao

Agreed, they take everything out and sell it separately up here, I like to fry up a bit of liver while waiting for the bird to cook.

It was undoubtedly my imagination gone amuck  Think I was destined to be vegetarian.

It was thought at one time liver was a blood builder, a good source of iron, now they have decided it's toxic.
I used to try to feed it to my kids once in a while. I dipped it in flour, put bacon with it, onions too, served it with ketchup to disguise it. No go, they would come to the table, take a look and whine, "what did we do"?

Given the function it fills in a living animal, that's not the least bit surprising. I don't eat kidneys either, for the same reason.

I do clean and eat chicken and fish though, and I actually prefer having bits of entrails in either because it's very easy to see from them how fresh the fish or chicken is.
