Monitor has black screen

Hi
I have a samsung 19" LCD flat panel monitor. Last night, we had a power outage. Today the monitor shows the power light on but nothing on the screen. :cry It appears to have shadow changes slightly when I push the buttons to change the settings but still stays black. I have both the monitor and computer plugged into a surge protector battery backup, so I cant imagine why it won't work. I thought it might be the computer but I tried another monitor and it worked so it definitely is something to do with the Samsung. :confused
I have unplugged the power cord and cable and plugged them back in and no change. Is it dead or just sleeping? lol
Any ideas what else I can do to fix or test it? :banghead

It sounds like it might be the monitor,but
Have you got on-board graphics, or, a seperate card ?
It could be worth trying changing to a/another graphics card.
Power outages , with surge protection ........... Still possible that the surge protector failed ( I have seen many guarantees on these, but never been unfortunate to have to test the gauarantee.

 

Well I have been trying to figure out this thing for a week now. I finally went to Samsung site and was reading their troubleshooter when my son came over. We fiddled with the controls etc. About an hour later I came back and the monitor was on. It was just fine last night and I shut it off when I went to bed. This morning... it has reverted back to black. Does anyone have any ideas?

You sure someone isn't pulling your leg and dimmed the light on the LCD... If it isn't that " Try sniffing for burning metal, should be evident if your monitor went Kaboom. check cables.. etc...

 

Thanks everyone... I finally went thru the troubleshooter on Samsung's website and then called them. The replacement monitor will be here shortly. I suppose after telling her my "symptoms" she felt sorry and is sending me a replacement. :celebrate

I wish someone had pulled my leg. I don't like things I cannot figure out. rolleyes I still cannot figure out why it comes on after about an hour of fiddling with it.LOL
Oh Well.. who understands anything in this techno-world anyway? :confused
