Years back, Asian women misled by unscrupulous persons, were brought to Sydney, only to find themselves trapped into a life of sex slavery, until the conspirators were caught, tried and gaoled.

It sickens me to see history repeat itself in Sydney:

Excerpts from ABC | Friday March 7, 01:25 PM

A brothel madame, Kwang Suk Ra of a Surry Hills brothel, and her male receptionist Ji Woo Lee, have faced a Sydney court accused of being part of a $3 million sex trafficking syndicate that lured South Korean women to Australia. The women recruited in Korea, are lied to about the conditions under which they would be employed.

Both appeared before Sydney's Central Local Court on a string of charges, of people trafficking, debt bondage, deceptive recruitment for sexual purposes, including conducting a business involving sexual servitude, dealing with the proceeds of crime and immigration breaches.

The pair are among five people due before the courts in relation to the alleged syndicate, that is alleged to have lured at least six South Korean women to Australia, forcing them to work up to 20 hours a day in the brothel.

    Update:

Australian Federal Police have smashed sex trafficking syndicate raiding six Sydney brothels. Three men and two women have been accused of luring South Korean women to Australia and then forcing them to work as sex slaves.

Surely immigration can watch out for this? Sad but happens all over the place :(

These naive Korean women came over for work, sponsored by these persons, who lied about the type of work, to lure them here. These persons handled the paperwork for immigration.

Then, once here, those women's papers and passports were taken off them before they were forced into 20 hour days of sexual slavery, with no access to the outside world.

I'm aware that such a trade occurs in other places (the worst type is that dealing with children), but it is not as common here. (Interpol has agreements with many federal and immigration agencies in different countries including ours to combat this type of trade.)

I shudder to think what would have happened to these women once their usefulness was spent.

It is a sad fact that we as humans are able to do this to our fellow humans. This makes these people who do this less worthy of life than the lowest form of scum. They should be forced into a life of servitude for a minimum of twenty years. Then be released with their crimes still on their record so that they have extreme difficulty getting positions anywhere. The hardest part to think about is how many of the judges, jurors may have been customers which could lead to a lenient sentence against them.

That would be corruption, which would bring about legal actions against such judges and jurors.

Also, there is no legal allowance for any judge or juror who may have been connected in any manner with such victims, to be allowed to perform such a public function.

I can understand that there is no legal allowance for such actions but it does not mean that it does not happen. And I do not know about your neck of the woods but corruption runs rampant in my neck of the woods, it is just that not many actually get caught or are able to buy their way out of it.

Sadly, corruption is everywhere...here we are not exempt. Consequently, we're always on the lookout to catch those who are corrupt. It would be intolerable to think such victims were dealt such injustice.
