Had some errands to run so I had a slight delay. I did have my 5yr old helping me though. He put in the power supply all by himself. All is well so far. Just did updates and got the vid card drivers in. So far its nice. Just have to start tweaking now and get some games installed.

Already have to make apost in the hardware forum about fan speeds lol.

    Sweet . . . :drool

Makes me want to replace my aging system - it was killer when I built it three years or so ago. To be honest, it still performs to my satisfaction, so building a new system might be a hard sell to my wife . . . :(

    . . . unless, I explained how much more satisfied I would with a NEW system . . . :D

    I doubt it would fly . . . but it's nice to dream! ;)

    Say . . . if I equate a new computer with new shoes . . .

Now, that might just work!! :p

hey Blues, gratz on the new rig :D How are you likin' that 9600? I've been looking at that one a lot, and bang for the buck it seems like a pretty decent card.

My good computer (seven years old), broke about six months ago. Been looking on the net for parts, waiting for income tax check to come back. I received just over $2000.00 back. I was looking to spent about 1800 for a new computer. Then daughter said, “what she wanted”, the step-daughter, “said her portion”, my girlfriend “ask for some things”. Lucky me, three to one odds, on what I wanted.

When I had the check in my hot little hand, did some more research. Found a computer at Sam’s club, at a better price, then I could built it for.

    It’s a hp Pavilion a6337c PC. AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 5200+
Three Ghz of ram, 500 Ghz hard drive, DVD burner, and onboard graphics Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE, and windows Vista Home Premium. Has the 15-1 card reader, and has the hp Pocket Media Drive bay (which I would have to buy, but don’t have one).

And it came with a HDMI 22” LCD monitor, hp w2207h. It’s the one where you can turn the monitor upright or sideways. Has on board speakers, but I have Logtech 5.1 140’s I think, and haven’t even wired them up yet.

Bestbuy had the computer for $945. And the monitor for $345. I bought at Sam’s for $899.74 with the money I saved, for $146. Bought a ATI TV Wonder 650 usb, external tv card. I didn’t have room for a TV in my bedroom, I sure don’t room now. I’m saving room for a better video card. I bought a $100. Logtech gaming mouse, and headphone/mic for a bit more….wobbles

Yep, train those young uns early. That way, when they get older and go to all the inappropriate sites and infect the computer, they can fix it and you'll never know! :D
