There has to have been something like this in the past, but I've never seen it. Where do come from, and what brought you here? I'm from Sykesville, PA which I guess you can see from my profile. I've lived in the general area most of my life. I spent 2 years in Bellefonte, which was the farthest I have lived from my home town of DuBois. I'm about 10 miles from the famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil. I started coming here after my father in law Aaron showed me the site, and some of the things he's constantly downloading from here. I guess I brought myself to the forums though, which is every bit as addicting as people say it is. :cool

Your a draftsman, how great. Thought that is something I would enjoy doing, sigh, maybe in my next life.
Born and raised in California. Have always lived from San Francisco to San Diego, right now live in the freaking desert :( miss the coast.
Found MG's from it being a suggested source for certain downloads.

I buy my shoes from california I might as well give them a plug http://www.simpleshoes.com I've been wearing nothing but simple's for more than a decade. I've had one pair for nearly 3 years, all beat to crap, but still feel like new. (other than my feet getting wet when it rains, and I wear them.) :(

My grandmother lived in Santa Barbara for a long time. If you ever run into a place called Chillers, that's my family too. haha

Nice shoes, I love Santa Barbara, from Ojai (Ventura) before going to Santa Cruz then here. What is Chillers? Bar, restaurant? I'm willing to go look just for the trip. LOL

Also from PA, but the northeast corner.

Came here to get some problem fixed, don't remember what, have since helped people, recommended the site to coworkers, and mentioned it when asked how do i stay up-to-date with the industry at job interviews.

I guess that was a worthwhile problem if MajorGeeks has helped me that much :D

Nah I wasn't sure I was getting maximum performance from my Raptor harddrive so I decided to ask on a few forums I signed up to MajorGeeks,Guru3d and anandtech and MajorGeeks was the only one that sent me a confirmation email, could have turned out allot different I like to think I was very lucky it was MG I ended up at,maybe not so lucky for everyone else:D

Oh yeah there was no Raptor problem there were just LOTS of people lying about how fast their computers were booting up or using extremely stripped down OS's,I remember reading XP to usable desktop boot times of 12 secs which is just ridiculous looking back,I remember ASUS was the first member to respond to my thread so thanks again:D

I hail from NW Indiana. I stumbled upon this site when I was preparing to build my first computer (AMD XP2400+, 512MB Ram, Geforce FX5200) I was like 15 at the time. I like the place so much I just stuck around!

All of our kids (6 between us, and 12 grandkids) live nearby.

Met the board through Kodo, whom I used to frag and be fragged by [ALOT].
Met AbbySue through a friend online in the NY area. Love that gal.
Star be lucky. I told her it was love a first internet sight. She's just lucky we were not both single at the same time. heh heh heh.

I'm from central Indiana, and I stumbled upon MG actually in 2003 or 2004 - I was looking for a free utility program (I've forgotten which) and was very impressed with the site.

It wasn't till a good while later I actually registered in the forum, being content to just lurk about at first. After posting a few messages and interacting with some of the wonderful folks who inhabit this corner of the 'net, I was hopelessly (and happily) addicted.

I've surfed far and wide on the internet since 1997 . . . and MG is my favorite place to visit by far for help, free safe programs, and just to chill.

My dad is Irish, from Cork, so I could say I'm half Irish! Does that count? :D

I was born in London, came to Sweden when I was 3 (36 years ago :eek), have moved around a bit, lived in Germany a few months, Switzerland a few months, the US a few months. I've lived in Stockholm for many years now.

I came here because of a bug that prevented MS Word to work properly with Norton... And stayed because of the nice people! :)

Cork is a beautiful city, and the castle is awesome. Scare the pants off of me walking the top of that one and hanging upside down to kiss the Blarney Stone, and I don't mind heights!

Ring of Kerry is also awesome, but do it anti-clockwize, regardless of what anyone's says, or you will get stuck behind every bus in Ireland and never see a darn thing!

Can't exactly remember how I got onto majorgeeks.com, but it was probably from a link in the now defunct :cry Australia's Internet Directory monthly mag. It finished publication in November 2004. :(

As you can see in my bio, I joined in Jan 2004 and have been recommending this site to anyone who will listen (my friends and acquaintances) ever since then.

It is the only site I have full faith in. Bazza

Yes, he was born there, moved to England in 1943 when he was 15 and swore he would never set his foot on that godforsaken island again... Must have been a rough childhood, because it took him 50 years to bury the hatchet and come back for a visit... I have never been to Ireland, but I have family in Dingle, so I'm hoping I can come over and visit soon. :)

I have lived in the Chicago area all my life. I hope to be in Northern Wisconsin when I retire (or sooner) It's very beautiful up there. I have been downloading all my spyware/malware software from here so I thought I should become a member. This place has an excellent reputation and everyone that I've met so far has been very kind and helpful.

I was born in England. Came to Canada when I was 10, and now live in one of the best areas in the country. My first experience with MG, I couldn't get Ad-Aware to scan my PC properly. A search brought me here. I didn't know to use the help forums to resolve my problem, so I emailed Jim or Tim (Ican't remember now) and they emailed me a link to a repair. I was so impressed that the owner of a website would take the time to respond, that I had to sign up. I haven't helped much here with computer problems, there are so many more qualified people here. I just handle the automotive concerns when they poop up in the lounge...or any other subject I think I'm good at.;)

Born in the northern suburbs of Chicago, now live far north side of Chicago, family are all in the area. Found MGs in 2004ish looking for info and stopped by a lot. Decided to fix my old laptop, downloaded a lot of files, fixed it. Registered to say thank you and started coughing up furballs all over the place :) I like software but don't have much time lately to play with it.

Form the UK to Canada and then on to Major Geeks. I linked here from Google, doing a search for 'freeware'. The 'freeware' I'd selected, turned out OK, and just for fun I thought I'd take a look at the forum. I thought to myself 'not bad' - there are some clever people here, but not the condescendingly clever I'd witnessed at other sites. After many months of 'lurking' I eventually overcame my shyness and contributed an idea or two. Although, I don't spend a lot of time 'on-line', when I do, I always take a look in here. I probably always will. :)
