    Hi there i current have a http://www.memorystock.com/memory/eMachineseMachinesT6212.html

With everything pretty much stock except the ram and vide card. Card is a x700 pro ati series pci-e 256 mb and the Ram i have 1.5 gigs.

My question is i notice games like counter-strike i get fast fps drops somtimes to 80 and i think my system should hadnle 1.6 at 100 solid. And my recoil in the game is severely affected.

My question is my computer has 4 ram slots all together 2 are black 2 blue i dont know if that means diff types etc.

I have 2 sticks of the same type of 512 in there and 2 sticks of 256 each . equaling 1.5 gigs someone told me i would be better off taking out the 2 256's as its probally causing conflict or making it slower then it would be if it were just the 1 gig of the two 512's if anyone can maybe take a look at my specific comp and tell me if this could be the problem.

Welcome to Major Geeks! The different colors of the RAM slots are individual channels. One color is channel A, the other color is channel B. For best results, all your memory should be the same speed (for example DDR333 or DDR400). If you have 2 different speeds, the memory will run at the speed of the slower sticks. So if you have 3 DDR400 sticks, and one DDR266 stick, the 3 DDR400s will run at 266.... I would set up the RAM with the two 512mb sitcks in one channel, and the two 256mb sticks in the other channel. I doubt you're getting any type 'conflict' with the memory. Any slowness in your gaming would be due to the under-powered video card and/or the CPU....

The different colors show different banks. The blue are one bank and the black are one; it's for dual channel mode. If you have two identical memory sticks, they should go in slots that are of the same color.

Tell us a bit more about your memory. What are the speeds of the parts? It will show in DDR or PC numbers on stickers on the memory. How are they installed, in which slots?

The memory slots Black & Blue just Identify your Memory channels (on my MOBO the black pair is one channel & the Blue pair is the other)

How your memory is installed & in which slots they are installed in, is important, if your want to run in Duel Channel mode.

To run in Dual channel mode you need equal amounts of memory, that support the same exact speed & timings, installed in each memory channel...

Dual channel mode at best will boost overall performance maybe 10% at the most, probably less

If your not already, you probably can run in dual channel with your memory, in one channel install one 512 & one 256 then the other channel install the other 512 & 256

Removing memory I doubt will help anything unless the 256 sticks are of slower speed & slower timings :major

    You can always Experiment...

I'm not a gamer nor an expert on fps, but yours seems typical? (maybe someone else will comment on this)

I'd suggest if you want boost your Game performance upgrade your memory to 2gb and get a better Video card
Memory wise it would be better to run 2 x1gb sticks than 4x512 sticks 4 sticks can stress your memory controller

My proc is also saying its running at 1.9 and itsa 3200+ amd shouldnt it be in the 2's ?

both 512's match and 256's match here are some screenshots of cpu-z

Also if anyone has a EASY way of explaining how to overclock my processor i would love to do so its a 3200+ amd 64 bit athalon.

Im trying to get my computer to be as fast as it can be since its affecting my recoil.

I had an A64 3200+ for awhile but it was different core and ran a bit faster at 2.20ghz. I did a bit of research and yours should be at 2000mhz, and you're at 1989mhz which is close enough.... you can try to overclock it. If you're interested, check out the MajorGeeks overclocking forum http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29
If all your RAM is the same speed, you shouldn't have any RAM issues. But I would still put the 512s in one channel, and the 256s in the other channel.
Get a new video card. Right now, that is really a weak link in the chain. The CPU isn't that bad; I ran my 3200+ at stock speeds and had very few games that lagged. If they did, I'd lower the in-game video settings a bit and that usually helped, but I was running a much higher end video card. Socket 939 CPUs aren't made any more (as far as I know) but you can find 'em on EBay, and dual core 939s are available on EBay also if your motherboard will support an X2 Athlon...
I think the fastest X2 socket 939s are 4400+ running at 2.20ghz stock....
