The search bar isn't actually a search bar. Its Launchy 2.0, and it has completely replaced my need to use the start menu. It indexes your start menu, and a few other things, plus what you specify and it searches as you type.

For example, to bring up Outlook 2007, I just type "ou" and it pops up. Very quick, lighter on resources than say, the Sidebar, plus its open source, skinnable, and can be extended with plugins. It has easily sped up my productivity with my computer by 15% or more. Its normally hidden, expect for the screenshots. You hit alt-spacebar and start typing to find an app. Minimizing your current work need not apply.

The programs require don't seem to like Vista 64 lol. It made about 300 error boxes pop up and made my UI disappear. Quickly fixed with the restore function on my vista cd but looks like no glass theme for me on my 64bit machine.

 

Bummer.

Wait...which programs? You can replace the UI files manually.

Let me know if thats your problem.

 

I know, weird thing, after the system restore, i gave LogonStudio another go, and it installed right and is working properly now. Gonna give glass another try. Hopefully it'll work.

Get the version you need.

Then, get this:

Use it to take ownership of the three files in question. Rename the originals (in C:\Windows\system32), then put in the modified ones. Reboot, and enjoy all the goodness of Vista themes.

Themes go in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes

Adjust the transparency under Windows Color and Appearance, under Personalize. Although it looks like we are using different themes.

Are you using Harmony? Note some differences between mine and yours.

Look at the lower right of my start menu. I have a clear arrow, yours is blue. Also, my highlights show as light blue (check All Programs in your start menu shot and mine).

Hmmm.. I'll have to check when I get back home. Could it be because I'm using Tuneup Utilities to apply the theme? I might uninstall that and go your withinwindows route.

 

Ran it this way on my laptop. Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. This one is different from the Harmony theme on my Desktop computer; its the Vista glass theme from the same guy. The results

Hi there my print screen button does not seem to work :cry is there anything else i can do to save my desktop :confused

 

you have to paste into something like MS Paint. the print screen button just copies a picture of your screen to the clipboard
