Computer boots up then shuts down in endless cycle.

Pertinent information:

Windows media XP edition, 2005. [OS]
Gateway(make)

Starting the computer in normal mode through "run" "msconfig" = endless reboot cycle.

When I start in safe mode and disable all start-up items...I am able to reboot in normal mode no problem. I am having difficulty trying to find the culprit. I know that I have braviax.exe on the computer and removed it I hope through sdfix(from these forums -thanks guys, you are great) So, I know that I have malware.

I used to run AOL, Norton, McAffee till I got wind of you guys then I have dumped AOL altogether, gotten the following:

Spybot
Adaware
AVG

Unfortunately, I can't find the culprit. Is there a better way then going through one line at a time on msconfig trying to find the program that is sending the computer through endless reboot? When I type in the lines in google, I get various responses and it is frustrating to say the least.

When I use hijack this I don't see anything out of the ordinary, but then that is because all my start up programs are disabled. So any suggestions would be great because I really am having difficulty trying to pinpoint this malware that I have.

You'll get better results posting this in the malware forum. The advice you get there is a lot more expert and reliable.

I wasn't sure which forum to post, but thanks for the link...its quite possible that I messed something up.

 

disable auto-restart. Right click my computer/ advanced/ start up and recovery/ clear the auto startbox. You will now get a blue screen with some letters on ttop like IRQL-not less-or equal to and some numbers at the bottom lik 0x0000007, don't bother copying the numbers in the parentheses. This will give us a better idea.

 

I tried this and clicked the auto restart box. The computer had a brief box pop "application error"

I was not able to write it down fast enough and get the number/words to you. I was however able to Cont-alt-del and enter task manager which for some reason mitigated the endless reboot. I was able to run hijack this for the following logscan.

I am going to run the virus scanner, and follow the malware procedures that I can with all the processes running.

I unclicked the recovery box to put the system back to its original status(well, i hope original)
