I have been wondering for years.... what's the deal with those files? There's usually a bunch of 'em in C:\Windows\.... and they have different numbers. They don't take up much space (most are under 700k), but what are they? I'm assuming they have something to do with Windows Updates because of the "KB"..... not a big deal, just curious.....

Yes, they are updates and some of them came from when you installed SP2 (if it wasn't already integrated on the XP disk). They're there so you can uninstall the updates if they cause problems. If you go into your add/remove programs in the Control Panel and put a check mark in "Show Updates" at the top, you will see them all there in the form you would use to actually uninstall them individually. They do take up some room, but if your not in any in any danger of filling your hard drive, you might as well keep them around.

Yep, I got rid of them on one of my machines. Came to 1.2 Gig total (pre SP2).

Exactly as above, but what I would add is that if you delete these files you loose the option of uninstalling them if a problem arises in which you need to uninstall one of them to fix said issue, but then if PC is working correctly with the installed updates then removing them causes no great issue.

Could backup this folder to CD for any user if needed, then they could re-copy the list back to the folder if space is at a premium.
