    Hi,

Whenever I try to right click on certain taskbar icons (Gmail notifier, skype, etc), I get the taskbar menu popping up.

That screenshot was generated by right clicking on the gmail notifier. Obviously, when I click on the gmail notifier, I want to access its manu, and not the taskbar menu. Does anyone have a solution for this? Its very frustrating.

    Thanks in advance,
    -Jason Banich

Does double clicking on the applet open the program?

Double clicking on it opens gmail.com. I want to right click and tell it to refresh the checking, but I can't do that.

I signed up for Gmail to see how it works.
It didn't add any applets to my tray.
Are you talking about the applet tray or the taskbar?

Sorry, I meant applet tray, as seen in this picture.

The arrow points to the gmail notifier

You have to download and insall gmail notifier too, not just sign up for gmail.

    OK
I'll download it later and check it out.
Have you tried to reinstall the notifier?

Yes, I have tried reinstalling it. I think it may be an problem with XP, because I have the same problem on my desktop computer at home. (I am on my laptop at college right not).

    OK
I've now downloaded and activated the notifier.
I notice that simply holding the cursor over the icon gives you a notice if there is any new messages. Is this working for you?

yes, that part works for me. Often though, I want to right click on it and have it refresh whether their are new emails are not, and that does not work

I also have the same problem with skype, where the taskbar's menu comes up over skype's menu

    Ok
I think I understand the situation.
When I installed the notifier, it works just as you said it should.
The fact that this problem isn't happening with this software exclusively, (you say it happens with Skype as well) I would only be able to surmise that the fault is with the applet tray itself.
I will have to admit that this is beyond me.
Hopefully another of our people will know about the working of the applet tray better than I and can help you.
    Sorry.

I just ran through a small test. I right clicked all my taskbar icons like 5 times each. Gmail notifier had the wront menu pop up 4/5 and skype had the wrong one 2/5. All the rest right clicks activated the correct menu.
