I have run most of the online scanners in both safe mode and regular mode.

Kaspersky comes up negative but notes locked items.

Panda came up negative as well.

    AVG found nothing.

The same 4 files come up in my cookies when running CCleaner: atdmt[2].txt, doubleclick[1].txt, bluestreak[1].txt and tribalfusion[1].txt

Emails end up coming back to me because the "send to" address is incorrect. One came back to me because the recipient had spam blocker and asked for more information. The email has the sender name of Alywn Shantanu and then my email address next to it. That is obviously not my name.

Please find attached all the reports requested on the Windows XP Cleaning procedure. Many of the log files indicated suspicious files.

I left off the SASlog.txt as I can only attach 3 files and I felt the other were more important. Please let me know if you would like me to attach it to another post.

I would greatly appreciate your help.
    Thank you
    David

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3

    Now reboot your PC.

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime
    O18 - Protocol hijack: flowto - {C7101FB0-28FB-11D5-883A-204C4F4F5021}

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix some files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now download and install this: Comodo Personal Firewall

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Chaslang, I wanted to thank you for helping me with this.

I completed everything from your response

While waiting on Friday, I moved some files to a flash drive that I thought were suspicious. One of them was QooBox. As I now see it back on my computer and recognize one of the files, I believe its related to combofix. Just wanted to let you know.

I also removed a file found in one of the logs called B772459181.sys and KGyGaAul.sys

A few weeks ago, our corporate office was attacked with virus emails. Corporate claims their email server screens and cleans all emails, but I suspect not.

A file that keeps popping up on ccleaner is D653F3EC.tmp. I'm attaching the last ccleaner log in case it means anything. Also a 0.log file keeps coming up.

After downloading and installing Comodo Personal Firewall, it asked to do a scan. It found Barrotes.849 ID=0xa61. The program deleted it. The file was located in a folder I created called "drivers" where I stored dell drivers downloaded from dell's site. This file did not look like a dell driver.

Lastly, after installing Comodo and rebooting, Comodo alerted me that another computer, 192.168.0.44 - UDP port Nbdgram(138) was trying to access my system. I blocked it, but "192" is our internal network. We have a firewall to block certain websites(I'm excluded as administrator) so each computer has its own internal address. 192.168.0.44 is a computer out on our floor somewhere. I have about 40 computers networked through a switch, but no common server. Basically everyone is sharing two data T1's. If you believe this is a virus attempting to access my computer from 192.168.0.44, please let me know and I'll have to work on that computer as well.

Attached are the files you requested. Thank you again for your help.
    David

It is just used by ComboFix to save backups of things that are fixed just in case they need to be restored.

Not problems. They are there because you installed DivX.

Most likely not a problem. Many programs create temp file while running.

What was the file name? I doubt you had this infection. You can read about it here:

    http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2000-121910-4832-99&tabid=2

If you computers need to share drives to copy data back and forth, you should not block this.

It appears that you did not run the program to remove Windows Messenger. Is there a reason for this?

Your logs are clean! Are you still having problems?

I ran the executable, but only to disable. It must not have taken. I have since run the executable and selected remove.

I don't recall the name and I've been looking through Comodo to find a log file but can't. I remember it being in a very strange location (The folder I created for Dell drivers I would download from Dell's site)

Just before I was going to log on, I received an email like I had before. I started getting all stressed out and then noticed the send date was Thursday of last week.

I have not received a single email back since your second post. I had outlook off since Friday morning and just turned it on this morning. I'm pretty comfortable saying I would have received something by now, but if nothing by tomorrow night, I'll be 99% ;)

Our computers here are set up to simply share the data T1. Each computer is set so other computers can't access each other, for privacy and security purposes. I thought it was pretty strange. I blocked the attempted access.

I installed the Comodo on my other computer and blocked three other attempted access from three different computers. Strange. I'll be running scans on all those computers.

Again, I wanted to sincerely thank you for helping me with this. This was the first time in years I haven't been able to resolve a malware problem. Looks like things are changing for the worse.

Great tools you guys have. I appreciate everything
    David

Then it may have been a false detection if it was in you Dell drivers folder.

When you use a firewall, you need to describe an IP Address range for your network otherwise traffic from other PC the network will be blocked and you will receive warnings about this.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
        • Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
    2. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    3. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    6. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
