I think its unfair, but not because it happened to Snipes.

Being a victim of a recent audit, the IRS is being pressured to produce more results (from the auditor's own words), especially in light of the war effort.

Totally unfair, and nobody can say it doesn't have to do with how much we are blowing in Iraq.

He didn't file taxes for several years. I think it is very fair, considering the amount of money he makes and the fact that somewhere along the way he had to have been warned or advised.

On the other hand, I am being audited by the State of Michigan because they owe me $1045 and I have a non-taxable VA disabilty income, so I think they are flexing some muscle.

To be honest I think its fair and correct of the courts to do, while the likes of me and you do not have laywers/accountants and personal managers, the likes of Snipes DO so they really do know what they are doing and trying to evade taxes should be punished.

Sadly many who are so called celebrities do get away with all sorts, whereas the "ordinary" folk get absolutely harpooned by the system, the system hits the less well off $$ wise.

So the message is SO WHAT if your famous you are treated like everyone else.

I don't think so,they we're obviously setting an example and I think everyone who is used to set an example is treated unfairly.

I thought this tax did you know is pretty relevant, watching this video kinda surprises me as to how much power the government now has and the amount of money they expect from us.

Doing good deeds, does not give you the right to do wrongful ones.
PS: One of the co-defendants in the " alleged scheme" got 15 1/2 years, the other 4 1/2. Snipes got the lenient sentence. He is an intelligent man and knew what he was doing.

He should be fined up the butt in addition to paying his back taxes. Other than that, people like that should not go to jail. Jails should be for people who are a danger to others, not for people who owe the government money.

Snipes does not believe in taxes. With all respect to Darlene, I can't even relate. Do I like to pay them? hell no. Are they necessary? Without a doubt. His wages should be garnished for the rest of his life if he wants to work in the US, since it doesn't seem that he will pay them on his own. With the amount he makes for a movie, they guy could pay what he owes back in about one movie.

I totally agree Laura,I also think if your they are gonna take three years of his life he shouldn't have to pay any money back,I mean three years of his one and only life thats very harsh IMO.
