fairly straightforward symptoms - my keyboard or at least using it, has started missbehaving. When I type s it types/displays s# and when i press the space bar it deletes eveything. I'm sure there are other strange behaviours but these 2 are enough to completely screw up any typing. This happens both on the internet & in Word - I have not tried other typing applications. Anyone have an idea what's going on? Oh, it's a microsoft wireless one. thanks

Have you tested using a different keyboard?

they were going low but I've put in some new ones - signal strength is apparently good. I'll borrrow a working keyboard tonight and see what happens.

If the keyboard is still under warranty, return it for a new one. You may want to think about going with a standard wired keyboard. It's been my experience that wireless keyboards and wireless mouses (mice ? ? ) can end up being more trouble than they are worth. Yes, they are convenient at first, but they go through batteries really fast and usually end up being problematic as you've experienced. I've been using the same wired PS2 keyboard for 4 years now and NEVER had a problem with it. It's just an 'el-cheepo' generic, and it's the best $8.99 I ever spent.

I hear what you're saying & agree with you. Wirelss mouse is v convenient but keyboard a bit unecessary. i have an ancient IBM keyboard that is going to be tried tonight. My feeling is that I've accidentally changed some setting in the bios or driver - we shall see

I'm going to disagree with you. I used to think the same thing until I bought a Logitech Wireless kekyboard/mouse combo. The mouse is rechargable and I've had to change the keyboard batteries once in 2 1/2 years. I'm a gamer so my keyboard gets a lot of use. The quality of both are excellent! When they break though, I'll go back to wired.. I don't feel like spending another 80 bucks for a keyboard/mouse combo.. hehe

well I switched off the PC & plugged in the ancient IBM keyboard, switched on and all is well. Of course I thne tried the wireless beast and it too is well. Clearly the poltergeist fled my keyboard when it was unplugged and has gone somewhere else - I wonder where????? or it just needed a reboot......the PC not the poltergeist

I'd say you're in the minority, but I'm glad to hear you've had good experiences with wireless keyboards & mice.
I had assumed that this had already been done as restarting the PC is usually the first step in trying to repair any issue... glad to hear all is well! :D
