Hi everyone, I just joined this site. And I am wondering: What gamecard suits my computer the best, if I wanna play the game age of conan on recommended graphics? My budget is 150-250euros and I have attached my Dxdiag so you guys know my computer type.

all I want is a video card that works for my comp and that can play age of conan on medium graphics, nothing ultra good. Just something that can handle it pretty well. And that costs 150-250euros.

Yeah I know it works for age of conan, but I want a video card that can play the game on better graphics.. It should cover the recommended videocard for playing age of conan on some higher graphics..

I left my DxDiag on this thread if anyone new reeds this but I got one more question. I found two video cards that pretty much covers my needs for the game.

    NSI Geforce NX 8600 GT
    MTD 256E/D2 256 MB

    and

    Leadtek Geforce
    Winfast Px 8500 GT TDH
    ITDMI LP 256 MB

I would like to know wich card suits my computer the best,
and wich card that will be better for the graphic value in age of conan.
These two are pretty cheap though. I could afford some more fancy.
So if you got a video card thats even better ( maybe even 512 MB )
I would gladly take your advices.

if possible get one with 512 ram (better performance) and fits into your price range.

Well, thats the problem. I thought you guys could recommend cards who had 512 mb. Cause the low profile cards (wich I only can use) does not seem to have 512 mb.. But please tell me wich of these cards that are better, or give me a advice for a better.

And wich of these four ( the two you showed, and the two I showed )
Will run the game at best quality?

Honestly, I would tell you to run this card: (Again $99 US)

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150229

This is the some card we use in the shop that I work at. It is reliable, and XFX has great support if your card should ever (which is not likely if you don't OC it). Later on, if you buy another, these cards fly in sli.

Another piece of advice, don't buy video cards from MSI right now. They have been hacked several times in the past few months. I downloaded new drivers for a customer's computer last week, and the driver's are infected with malware.

    Hope this helps,

Ok, but if I wanna play this game at the highest quality and graphics as possible. Wich of these cards you adviced me (and hugh) is best?
And please tell me if it is low profile or not.. Otherwise I cant use it.

And shouldnt the cards with 512mb have better performance graphics wise in the game? Than the card you showed me?

I am going to download and play the game at 17 may, so I would like a answer for the best card we all brought up here. For the game.

    Thank you anyway.

The main thing you are looking for when buying video cards, is the core clack speed and the memory clock speed. Both the 256 MB and the 512 MB XFX cards are low profile. Here is a comparison of the core and memory clock speeds for you:

    256 MB GDDR3:
    Core clock: 620 MHz
    Memory clock: 1600 MHz

    512 MB GDDR2:
    Core clock: 540 MHz
    Memory clock: 1180 MHz

As you can see, the clock speeds are much better for the 256 MB card. Seeing as how you have 2GB of RAM installed in your system, you don't really need the 512 card, and you will get better results from the 256 card. I am using the XFX 8600GT XXX myself, and it plays most games at high settings. When I say most, I mean that it won't play Crysis maxed out, and I can't get too crazy with anti-aliasing settings on COD4 or GRAW2. I can (and do) play Assassin's Creed with all of the settings maxed out and at 1152 x 864 without any problems. Game play is smooth.

So, my recommendation, after comparing items on newegg is to stick with the one I previously pointed out to you. XFX is dependable, and that card has the highest clock speeds for your price range.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything else

err.. What the hell guys? this isnt low profile.. I told you like three times it have to be low profile or else it wont fit.
Now I'm stuck looking for a new card on the day the game is released...

Low Profile.. Thought I told you that.

  18. shattered.likeness

It may not say "low profile", but it is. Low Profile means that it only takes up the space of PCI/ PCIe slot, and no space above it. The card linked to above only takes up minimal space, and to be honest, you are not going to find anything that takes up less space short of onboard graphics. It even fits in microATX cases.

    Hope this helps

I've seen alot of low profile cards.. And they are surely not the size of this one.. My computer is seven cm tall... And the card is at least 12 cm or taller.

I found alot of cards with 500-540mhz clock speed that are low profile.. but this XXX over clock thing you showed me, doesnt come in "low profile". And if the card you showed me is low profile, the creators of it have lied.

I think there has been a misunderstanding about the use of the term "low profile".

I think you are actually looking for something like this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814145153

You should be able to return the other card.

No rush on Age of Conan. The game will be around for a few years and in the beginning there will be plenty of bugs. You will get your time in sooner or later, it's not the end of the world.

    JonasLT Private E-2

Yeah exactly... I found a "low profile" card. Already bought it and I sent the old one back. Thank you for your help.. Just that I was kinda waiting for the conan release all week and my card came the next day, but no harm done because the servers went up so late I didnt play anything at the release day anyway... Thanks for everything .

One can never be totally sure, but the card I linked to has twice the RAM and everything else looks about the same. I'd guess that the Chaintech would be a better choice. I have not yet played Age of Conan but will be soon.

What is your budget? I am guessing it is under a hundred dollars? Here is the one I would buy for under a hundred dollars. I am not familiar with the name brand you have chosen, I have only used Evga cards and never had a problem with them....and they overclock great! Just a suggestion for ya!;)

    The above statement is wrong.
The above statement couldn't be more true.
The above statement reflects the true meaning of the term "low profile". It means that the mounting bracket for a given card (and the card itself) is just over half the height of a what is considered a 'standard' bracket size. Low profile cards are usually used in 'mini' desktop PC's that are horizontally oriented (where as a regular 'tower' PC is vertically oriented) and designed to have the display set on top of the PC, though this is not a 'requirement'. Attached is a screen shot of a typical low-profile 'mini' desktop PC (a Dell Optiplex GX270).
